I ordered a 50W HID kit from Zero cool , kit arrived 48hrs later and I fitted it that night....
Well, first of all, thanks to ZC for a very prompt service, 2nd the kit seems to be very high quality with pukka waterproof connectors for all the joints, the ballasts are indeed nice and slim and were fitted to the bike with little trouble, first one took some time whilst deciding where/how but the 2nd one took less than 20 mins from start to finish.
I did both Dip and Main lights and I am pleased with both results.
Having fitted the kit I went for a test ride, after the initial ride I concluded that the light was in fact set too low, so I reached for the adjsuter to raise it, there was a clunk and the lights shot towards the sky...FECK !
I was now guiding aircraft in to land and blinding every single driver in sight (I could see where I was going however), I had to sneak down every back lane I could find to avoid blinding the populace of Yorkshire..and of course every Traffic Car in the county was on the same road as me....
Having made it home and stripped the light out of the bike, it transpires that, the adjsuter had stripped, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the HID kit but by sods law happened just after I fitted them.
Some creative surgery to the light later I managed to sort a temp solution to allow me to use the bike
Last nights test ride...
after the intial re-setting up of the headlight I've reached a nice compromise between seeing where I'm going and blinding other users, no one flashed me even once and I'm no longer having to watch for Boeing's finest either !
My impressions are...
Dip beam..absolute revelation..very, no make that VERY bright, you can see so much more than std it's unreal, a vast improvement
Main beam, well, this takes some getting used to, there is a warm up time when the burner is cold.. the light is ON, but you can't see the result for a few seconds, this becomes less of a problem as the burner gets "run in" but the first time you hit the switch it's very strange..
I was out for about 2 hrs in darkness last night and I have to say with getting used to it and more use high beam is also a great improvement over std.
in conclusion..as many of you already know...HID is the way forward, and gets a thorough recommendation from me...
ZC's kit is quality and easy to fit so thanks to him.
all in all a good result....
pics below...appologies for the yellow tiewraps...
