Has anyone fitted HID kits onto an R1200RT ?.
I was thinking about doing this to my bike which is a 2012 model. I had HID kit fitted to my previous GS and it often suffered with the dreaded LAMPF warning. If I fit these kits to my RT do you expect i will have the same problem ?.
any views gratefully recieved.:thumb2

You dont really need them on the R1200RT, try it out, find an unlit road one night.
I had them on R1150RT.

I dont know about that !. after having them on the GS maybe i have been spoiled and expect more light.

A matter of personal choice but I have to say the standard lights on my 12 are the best I have had :beerjug: I to had HIDs on my GS1150 which was a big improvement, not so on the 12 IMO :thumb2

I have them and really happy. The standard ones are reasonable but nothing as good as HID's.

I fitted 55w car canbus ones. Twice during the past 6 months have they failed to work - both times after I stalled it. No problem to turn off the ignition and restart it and learn not to stall!

I think they were less than £40.00 for the pair from a place advertising on Ebay.

I do believe there are people on here who sell bike kits, so if i get some i`ll probably buy from them.

I fitted a pair of 55w HID's to my 1200RT just over a year ago, they work perfectly, no lampF and never fail to light. The only problem is the light pattern is really terrible, I often get flashed and I can see the unfocused light lighting up the inside of the car in front, they often dip their rear view mirrors. No amount of adjustment is going to fix it, I'm taking them out this winter.

IMO the dipped/low beam on the RT is more than bright enough. However, the main/high beam is a little lacking. I've supplimented my high beam with a couple of 65w FF50 spots.
Worked fine for the last 65,000 miles or so and I do a lot of night riding in the british winter.
