Hilltop 18th April 2015

does geoff alter the mapping, fueling to suit certain riding styles? not too bothered about all out power figures, i would like all the power low down with max ride-ability or does one map cater all:nenau
You get the same as everyone else at a guess, give Geoff a ring . Turn off your traction control and give a big handful in first or second and see if you need it all low down, you want nice linear and smooth power so you can use as much as you want in a controlled fashion.

Nutty ,
If you are desperate to try before you buy come up and have a go.
You can then see how your exhaust should have performed before I picked it up from you.

Sounds like it's transformed your bike.:thumb

I've fitted the full system to mine, and it's made a real difference to the way the bike performs, so I'll see how it goes over the next few weeks. I can't say that I've noticed any of the issues that you mentioned, before you had your bike done though.

Food for thought.:thumb

I'd presume he loads a base map and then Tweeks to suit your engine as every bikes map seems to have different gains, I ran mine in by not pussy footing around, gave it some stick :) had it mapped at 1000 miles and it made more power then most ! I let Geoff take it out (full Akro) he came back smiling like a Cheshire Cat and said it was very quick :)

After having a mapped light flywheel engine and then having the heavy flywheel engine, I could tell a huge difference between engines and how quick the light flywheel spun up .

I'm guessing that's because some have the standard exhaust, and some have the full system, maybe?:nenau

I meant as per stock, one of mine was not even 100bhp stock !! However does seem the fully akro bikes are within each other once mapped.

STEVE, let me no when your going, I'll call Geoff and get him to sort my TC out at the same time, we can meet up.

Needs to be sunny, not raining, not even wet rds !!! My tc is minta then a mint thing

Yeah pal, I'm easy as and when, just putting the bike back together after my winter makeover, give me a bell/txt when your ready .

Ding dong, please can you clarify, have you had both a heavy and a light flywheel bike re-mapped, and which bike was the better to ride after the re-map?

As I lay in bed this morning I was thinking about bikes( what else?) particularly my visit to hilltop tuning.
Some people have said that it is not possible that Geoff can achieve up to 20% increase without any mechanical tuning and therefore he must be massaging the figures in some way, it has been said by some of these people that 10% could be possible with a full system and careful fettling, a little ignition advance where needed ,balance the injectors and remove all the tree hugger stuff that makes it run so lean.
To me it would seem that the 'not possibles' and Geoff are both right.
Geoff says that he thinks the GS loses a bout 20 bhp through its drive train.
I you work the figures from the top down instead from the bottom up.

125 bhp BMW say
12.5 bhp Full system and good set up. 10%
137.5 bhp
20 bhp Drive train losses
117.5 bhp

That number is within 2 bhp of most of the reports of Hilltop tune ups I have seen on various forums for the GS LC.

Do you need to lose the cat to make a hilltop visit worthwhile? and does anyone bother informing their insurance?? :augie

Nobody gonna answer me??? :nenau

yes mozz, get rid of it. a set of decat headers is a good upgrade in itself but would make the bike run very lean, its costly but if your going to the trouble of the remap its worthwhile mate:thumby:

what happens then when you take your Bike to a BMTrouble You dealer ? Can they see the remap ? If theres a BMW update does it overwrite the Hilltop remap ? I'd have to say that it would have to be good to justify the money as the bike at "stock" settings seems pretty good to me. Maybe I lack "sensitivity"

1- No
2-No

If you tell em, you'll be fooked, only a fool would tell a dealer tho .

Sorry to disagree Dave, but the dealer DEFINITELY can see it. A good friend of mine is one of the top BMW mechanics, and he said they can see it. Most dealers choose to keep quiet though.
