Hilltop - is it worth it?

But they try and make u feel all rosey about the extra cost by having dyno runs that are at best dubious and at worst out outright con.

Which dyno of runs are a con? The before, the after or both?

Which dyno of runs are a con? The before, the after or both?

The before and not just on Gs’s. The before runs are often all over the place but the afters are fairly consistent with what a gs would make.

My gut and observations by others suggest that human input in the method of the run is the easiest and least detectable way of getting a lower output. But human intervention is by nature inconsistent.

You may remember me making an example of an RSV4 which made the lowest figure anyone has ever seen on their dyno of 129 but an about right after run 152 I think. that came in for loads of stick from owners and aprilia tuners but someone seemingly connected to hilltop ( it was a random new poster so no one knows) came on and said they now thought after research it was a French bike hence 100bhp limit. But vanished when asked how it had then made 129 and finally 152, by what process exactly ?
Apparently then the op was asked to remove all his posts including the graphs by sources unknown ?

Draw your own conclusions but it smelt bad universally on that forum ( biggest aprilia site on the planet) and amongst them are the biggest names in aprilia tuning around. The unfortunate thing is that the bike may have been a dream to ride from what they did but the dyno circus meant that no one was interested in anything else as credibility was lost. The thread minus the deleted bits from the op is still there on af1 if anyone cares to look.

So basically if enough people smell poo then there is deffo some around is what I’m saying. But I do still think it does correct afr etc on the Gs so I don’t dismiss the fact people feel a benefit to there bikes. Just not a 25bhp , 20lbs of torque benefit that some dyno runs claimed.

You don’t need me to tell you that is fantasy from corrected afr, you already know it.

I like fantasy; preferably 5'10" blonde, big tits and fucks like a rabbit, owns a camera shop/guitar shop/shooting range and can cook too.

Fantasy that they exist or fantasy that u could pull one ?

Ok so you're more bothered about the before than the after then!

I had my GS done a few years ago (full Akra) and got just shy of 120 post Hilltop. Just over a year later I had it dyno'd again at Brian Grays place and the results were pretty much identical to Hilltop.

What was more interesting for me was the comments the technician there made which was "don't know what you've done to this bike but the fuelling is spot on and there's bugger all I can do to improve it. It's also making more low down torque than my battle of the twins race bike!".

So I'm pretty certain that whatever Geoff does works extremely well and that, combined with the qualitative evidence of how much improved the bike felt to me afterwards, was more than enough to justify the expenditure!

Which is pretty much what I said.

I just struggle personally to get past it as it just feels a bit dirty. Otherwise I would likely have already done it myself.

Fair enough, and it's always a personal choice as to what you do with your own bike :beerjug:

Over the years on this forum a lot of stuff has been posted about Hilltop. The detractors (most of whom have never been) views have included; it's all faked, it can be seen by dealers and will invalidate your warranty, you won't get insurance, your engine will explode within a few thousand miles, the emissions will kill children, it will all get wiped by a dealer software upgrade, etc.etc.

As more people have been the body of evidence has increased and a number of things have become much more certain including:
The after figures are accurate and you get a well fuelled bike
Insurance isn't a problem and warranty claims have been settled
Dealers can't see the software and upgrades don't affect it
Engines have done good mileages with no issues

And probably the most important bit is that by far and away the biggest majority of people who have been are extremely satisfied with the results. There are a couple of folk who weren't happy ( and made a lot of noise on this forum) but they are very much in the minority and Geoff also offers a full refund if you're not satisfied.

The real test of any business providing a service is the feedback from its customers and Hilltop score very highly in this regard, which is why they get so much repeat business.

So there you go, you pays your money and you makes your choice. You could of course easily blow the same amount of dosh on various bits of bolt in shite :D

Look, that is just too logical and well written for this forum....

Ha ha, I must try harder in the future, but whilst I'm in reflective mood here's some more shite for you (and then I promise I'll shut up on the subject :D)

There are other facts which seem to be conveniently ignored by a few folk in the scramble to slag off Hilltop which include:

Geoff's a highly experienced software engineer and has spent years working in the aerospace and automotive industry on engine management systems
He's invested a massive amount of time and effort in building his innovative software solutions, not to mention the amount of money he and his business partner have put in to build a state of the art dyno centre
He doesn't just do programming and dyno runs, but a whole load of other stuff around engine tuning and blue printing - his "tool porn" collection is testimony to that!
A lot of racers and race teams use his services, and they're no mugs
Geoff's passionate about motorcycles and motorcycling and was a very successful racer in his day. Basically he lives and breathes the work he does!

There's a whole lot of stuff on here at the moment which is linking the pressures of running and surviving as a small business with the very sad loss of a much liked and respected fellow Tosser, so I find it incredibly sad that there are folk on here who are so quick to jump in and put a huge effort into slagging off a small company, often with very little tangible facts to back up their inferences other than conjecture and rumour.

Of course people must develop their own opinions, but personally I prefer to see Hilltop for what I think it really is, a small British business providing an excellent, innovative and legitimate service to motorcyclists which helps folk enjoy riding their bikes more.
I wish them every success.

Agreed. Done a few miles on my freshly hilltopped bike this morning, it really is a transformation.

What pissed me off about Hilltop more than anything was having my time wasted. It wasn’t just that it made no perceptible difference to the bike, or that Geoff was unwilling to explain what he’d done to it, or that he made a threatening phone call after I’d posted my experience here. No, more than anything it was waiting 3 hours for a 5 minute download and 3 pointless wot dyno runs, then having to trek back to Hinckley for a refund and waiting 2 hours while “it” was removed. Then to add insult to injury he gave all sorts of ridiculous dire warnings about it running too lean and might blow up before saying that there was going to be no record of my bike ever having been to Hilltop. I don’t appreciate being taken for a fool.

Re the Aprilia Forum, it was another of Geoff’s fake personas (20-30 posts then suddenly a comedy dyno graph showing in impossible power increase). https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?265749-Remapped-aprc&highlight=Hilltop The AF1 Aprilia Forum moderators quickly shut it down as fake news and removed the ridiculous graph.
