Hi guys, from reading the hilltop threads I understand the ECU flash can be done remotely by authorised guarages. Do any of you know if there is anyone in the north East that is an authorised hilltop tuner?

Might be easier to ask Hilltop

01455 610721 or 07449 006300

I will call them tomorrow Smogbob but as usual I want to know NOW.

What year was your 1200 Andy and I suppose you just posted it to them?
Is there any reason to go and have the dyno run?

I had my 2015 done this last week, posted it monday at 4.30, rang them wednesday lunchtime to be told they didnt have it, bugger i thought i'll have to track it when i get home. I got home 5ish and they had already done it and returned it, it was sat on the doorstep.
I sent it Royal Mail because they would insure it up to £1000, which was £9.70 each way, print your postage off at home and stick the return label in the box simples. Well worth doing, as the dyno print outs show.

Hi stu I bet you where a little releived!
Did they send you a print out even without the bike being there?

Thanks Andy I have the 2018 1200 on a 19 plate so I will contact them tomorrow and see what they can do.
Cheers George

I had my 2018 done last Wednesday but I rode up. I didn't have a dyno run by choice as I've used them previously on a different bike and was happy.
Had a coffee whilst I waited, I was then told to take it for a spin before paying which I did. Ended up having great fun on the way home, loads smoother and the flat spot at 4-5k is greatly reduced so my 2p would be don't bother having a dyno run so posting your ECU would be fine, failing that take a day off and ride down there, the bloke before me had an air cooled GS and he came from Sheffield. He was grinning like a Cheshire cat after his test ride.

No print out (how could they) nothing at all to show for your £300, but then when you ride it you will be well chuffed.

I think you'll find the closest one to you is Motorrad Central in Dalkeith. The next would be Speedycom in Chapel-en-le-Frith, High Peak.

I've had both my GS and my XCountry Hilltopped at Motorrad Central.

cheers ian

I DHL´d my ECU from Mallorca and it was a 1 day turnaround.
Brilliant service and WELL WORTH doing IMHO.

I was so impressed with the Hilltop on my 14 GSA LC that i also sent in my Triumph Bobber´s ECU.
Same result; ultra smooth throttle response, heavily reduced flat spot (on the GSA) and excellent tractability/control at low rpm. Exactly what i was looking for (i.e i was not looking for silly hikes in outright BHP).

A Hilltop is not a one stop shop to cure all ailments, but it makes the bikes so much more enjoyable to ride.

Thanks for all the replies guys I am going to send the Ecu down to them on Monday. What I am mainly looking to achieve is to stop the bike running so lean as I would like to keep it for quite a while without it destroying itself because of the fuelling.

Out of curiosity are you aware of any that have destroyed the engine because of lean fueling?

I've had a couple of them and neither have exhibited signs of running lean - 'pinking' or the fan cutting in frequently etc.

Not yet but the better the fueling the longer the engine will last and it should run a little cooler to boot.
they lean the fueling so they can meet the EU emissions targets.
