Hilltopped at last

What does it cost ? does it effect the warranty ? Do you need to tell the dealer when going for a service ?

£350, only if you tell them, no. Do a search.....there are several massive threads on the issue. General consensus of the many who have had this done (including me) is that it is the best mod you can do....transforms the bike with no ill effects.

Possibly the ECU is recaliberating the mpg after the changes.
I had a new petrol Ford Focus a couple of years ago and thought the mpg was fantastic at first. Settled back to normal after a while.
Seem to remember a similar experience when I fitted the AF-XIED units. After a while it regulated itself back to around 55mpg, couple less on the motorway. You will find yourself short shifting more, especially around town, so you may see a slight improvement anyway.

More torque found myself riding through a village at 30 mph in 6th !

Its great to feel the bike pulse its way out of a bend in a high gear, but it can't be good for the crank or transmission. Chugging the engine is best avoided.

Ah Bendy, the lad is still all excited about it. :rob
You do stuff like that when you're still newly fangled with it. I remember being surprised that I'd let mine run down to under 2k rpm when tottling around town when my AF-XIED units were settling in.
You soon re learn your riding style to allow for the different characteristics.

Yes, I organised a group purchase for 6 of us, and then couldnt go myself and had to back out at the last minute. Went a few weeks later. I think it was fate, for when I did go I met two strange men who bought me a cooked breakfast.

You must live a charmed life if I met 2 strange men they would probably steal my wallet and mug me !

No need to tell your dealer as it does not effect servicing
I would recommend it to any one as it happened there was a guy already there having his bike cooked it was a brand new wc GSA with full Acropovic exhaust.
He was not worried about warranty issues.
Phone Geoff at hilltop or you never know he may pop on on here

Agreed it just I did not realise its never managed it before !

Issues with Geoff at Hilltop

I meant to add there were some issues
1.Geoffs jokes are crap
2.He charges 80p for coke out of the machine its warm and when you open it they goes off like a grenade.
3.Never offered me a cup of tea !
4.Never offered me one of the cakes I left him
Apart from the above it seemed to go ok

Geoff offers a substantial discount off the £350 IF you have been to him before..
I had a Yamaha MT-01 done with him about 18 months ago and so got this discount!

Even more to worry about. Should you let your insurance know as it's a performance mod.

Sorry

I suggest like bendy your computer is out

I top off the tank and record the mileage then do the arithmetic, I don't rely on the computer.

Travelling up from Staffordshire last Sunday 230 miles on the Hilltopped S10 with big panniers fitted. Mix of 50mph A roads, a couple of towns, some 50mph restricted motorways and the rest at a satnav 70 -73 mph. 18.9ltrs to brim it. 55.3mpg.

I have to admire your restraint!!

I can sort of understand why Hilltop threads become so adversarial – because people have spent significant dosh there. Ironically, those of us questioning what Hilltop does to your bike are trying to do so for others' benefit, i.e. not wanting fellow bikers to be paying for something they're not really getting. However, I now understand that if I write the truth about Hilltop then my posts or indeed the whole thread will be deleted by the moderators, as has happened recently.

Therefore I'll join the herd and say that Hilltop is the best £350 you'll ever spend on your bike. It's better than a PCV because a Hilltop remap self-learns and adapts to any exhaust and air filter changes you may make in future. It is completely undetectable by anyone in the world and especially not BMW dealers or insurance investigators. There's a great chip shop around the corner and Geoff's a great bloke who tells side splitting anecdotes, so it's worth travelling from far and wide to Earl Shilton. He has remapped numerous BSB bikes and even gets pre-launch road test bikes to remap before the motorcycle journalists get their hands on them.

If you want to understand exactly what Geoff does to your bike give him a call on 01455 848522. Here's a link to his website http://hilltopmotorcycles.co.uk/

I noticed the engineer has been very quiet on the subject

I have a Power Commander 5 on mine. The improvement was stunning yet all it does is change the fuelling.
Hilltop remaps do a whole lot more than just mixture correction. So it's reasonable to expect even better results.
