I have hired a WC to ride the Alps. This will be my first time in Europe. I am wondering if anyone has some tips on a Good place to stay in Paris ? Need a two room Apartment of Good Hotel with adjoining rooms. I'm 4 to 5 stars if it doesn't cost the earth.

5 star in Paris that doesn't cost the earth! Would you like the maid to also leave you the moon on a stick?

Bails, best to stay away from hotels near the centre and be near a Metro station or you may have to pawn the bike to afford to stay in Paris. Don't have any ideas though, I used to stay with my daughter. Have a good trip.

I hired one last week to the the Austrian Alps, ..Awesome!

My Explorer is now being replaced by a new GS-TE next Wednesday!

Can't help with France but I can with Dolomites and Austria.

Enjoy the ride!

Unless you want to park on the street in Paris, and many do, either find a hotel with parking or pay for multistory parking. Last time I paid for Vinci (the parking company there) it was 25 euros a day whether car or bike.

Only went once for some reason and afterwards parked the XCountry on the street like everyone else.

What was it that made you want to switch?

Yes! The decision to buy the LC was finalized after the ride on the rent bike, I was comfortably quicker through the twisties on the LC after just a mornings riding in the Alps, than I was on my Explorer after a year of riding. Back to back testing left no more debate, it felt such a much smaller more nimble bike than my beloved Tiger.

Last year we stayed at Adagio La Defense Le Parc in a 2 bed apartment.
It's in the Defense area and has secure underground parking. 5 min walk to metro and 10 mins on metro to Paris centre. Check booking.com for details.
We got a good rate for 4 nights and they threw in parking for free. I would say its probably 3 star but depends on what your looking for.

Looks like I posted in the wrong area , but heh this is about being new to the site I suppose, I'll get better in time. Have been away for the first long ride on my WC , 2500 k's in 4 days of Rain Hail and Shine. Really impressed and can't wait to ride the Alps on one in 7 weeks. Don't think the Alps will throw up some of the muddy roads that I have been on this past four days and I hope the rain stays away whilst in Europe.
The WC setup is excellent IMO , traction control worked a dream in slippery wet conditions, in fact one in our group on a Goldwing ended in Hospital before starting the ride when the Wing high sided on a smooth section of road when the rear wheel lost traction, how can a $40,000 bike not have traction control?
Anyway I am well pleased with my WC , negatives are the gearbox in the lower gears, reminds me of the old R11 box. Bike also seems to get massively dirty compared to other bikes , not an issue but an observation. I found the wind protection the best of any bike I have owned this includes a 2008 R12RT . The bikes in my group include 2 Ducatis and one K1200s. I was surprised in the WC's great handling , unbeatable in the tight stuff and pretty good in the high speed sweepers.

I'd better go and clean the crap off the bike , hope the Crud catcher and Radiator Guards are waiting at the office for me when I get in.
