Hit a bloody pidgeon tonight

A few years ago a pheasant popped out from the near side just after Jedburgh. It hit me on the shoulder and took my phone off its mount. No damage but I couldn't find my phone.

I week later my phone arrived in the post - found by a jogger.

Still some nice people around.

Salesman at Bahnstormer Alton (Steve? ex traffic cop?) took a pigeon in the visor. He looked like a fucking panda. Stayed on the bike, I recon his training saved his life.

I was following Johnny Boxer a few years ago on a road stretch to connect up some trails, when a pheasant took flight from his near side. He ducked, fortunately, and took the full force on his shoulder. Now that’s a four, five pound bird ? I think it hurt.

It certainly did
Shoulder was bruised for weeks
At least the bike was undamaged
& I stayed on
Hurt though

I had one hit me in the eye when I was doing 70mph - hurt like hell for about 5 days afterwards.

I live on that road and can confirm there are a lot of deer about, I had to shoot one Wednesday night which had been hit by a car. There were loads of bikes out that evening and it did cross my mind that it would have been different if a bike had hit it.

We were 'making progress' having just overtaken a car, wasn't looking at the speedo but it was probably around 70 - 80 i'd guess..
