Noticed this midway through tour to Norway. Coolant left below minimum mark and engine temp cycling up and down between 81 and 90 C. Booked in with Vines to investigate...

My GS TE has done just shy of 20K.

Just a quick update that Vines replaced the water pump (as well as a leaking fork seal and rear brake bleed) under extended warranty. I also had a whinge about my wheels not cleaning-up and was told that BMW won't be interested especially as my bike is 4 months out of original warranty period. Tempted to keep the extended warranty going for a bit longer given the total amount this could have cost me...

Not necessarily. :rob

Both my LCs (standard and then GSA) had weeping peepholes for the first few thousand miles and both then stopped with no need to replace the pump on either bike.

So maybe some need a new pump and some don't. :nenau

Yes, my GS was the same.

Mine started weeping 3 weeks ago with over 3.5K miles and has been doing it since now on 4,3K:blast it is booked in for next Thursday as I am off to Scotland in a month and don't want any hassle:rolleyes:

I haven't had much of a leak so far, either a couple of streaks or the hole is all wet:eek:

Had this probem on my CRF 250. Dealer replaced the pump and it did it again. When I reported the problem for the second time I was told that it would cure itself which I was scepticle about. However, shortly after the dribbling stopped and it's been dry ever since.

I have oil coming from this hole cleand the bike and oil is back after next ride

Dropped bike at Vines tonight to have the pump changed. Got a nice R1200R as a loan bike good for filtering and in the wet!
