Hotel in Edinburgh

I staying in a hotel in Edinburgh since Thursday. The experience has not been great. Check in is 3. Got here early by agreement and they stored our luggage in a room. They said they would ting us when the had a room ready. No call was received. We got back to hotel at 3 and sat for 1/2 hour till we got room. Everything has been delayed. We got room service last night and the tray is still outside our room almost 24 hours later with the remains of our food on it. A item of jewellery has disappeared from our room. The whole experience has been a disaster. I don’t usually post negative stuff on here but I’m disappointed with the service here. Really nobody gives a shit. I stay in hotels regularly with work and go away quite often and have never had such just don’t care attitude. Nobody seems to know how to do things here. Asked for the tv to b Ed changed to watch the match. Sorry can’t do that. 5 minutes later the match is up on it. JJH

Ok missing item of jewellery has turned up. My wife has a small jewellery box that travels with us. That’s where the item was. On emptying a travel bag it fell out of an outside bottle holder pocket. Very strange. We had kicked up a fuss in the hotel and then left our room for a couple of hours. My brother who is a retired cop suggested to us that after making a fuss it might magically reappear and hey presto here it is. The rest of my comments still stand. JJH

The Angels Share is a good hotel right in the centre of Edinburgh, basically in the shadow of the castle.

One hotel I stayed in, told me not to put the bike in their garage as it would definitely get stolen. He told me to park it outside the front door, sorry I cannot remember the hotel name, but it would have been one of the bigger outfits.

There is a Wetherspoons, that does rooms, up by the zoo.

The zoo is great.....

There is one just called Murrayfield , free parking and a bus stop into town, nice bar attached, its not perfect breakfast service was slow last time we went and some rooms are small if you go for the very cheapest one, but the food/drink is great and the beds are comfy.
