Can anyone recommend a hotel with secure bike parking in Marseille?

stay with a bigger branded hotel, they usually have reasonable under ground parking...

we stayed in some pace near the harbour, the whole place had an air of stale shit about it... however it was really cheap.... like £35 a night not sure I can recommend it... or give it the seal of approval the lock on the door worked and it had a private bathroom.... which someone before me had defiled to within an inch of it's or their life...

Cannes and Monaco much nicer and nicer smaller places to stay at Eze..? odd place outside of monaco... was cool...

No.
But do make sure that parking is locked, covered, garaged. I had a bike stolen this year in Grenoble from a ‘secure’ hotel parking. It was security fenced, locking gate and cameras.
Next morning mine and an S1rr were gone. Thieves had cut out a section of security fencing and dragged out the bikes they wanted.
So just offering advice.
Also, recommend chaining bikes together, regardless of the apparent parking security. Disc locks, they just drag the bikes away. Big issues atm in all major French cities..

We planned on using the Sofitel which overlooks the Old Port a while back, which has garage parking. Expensive though, unless well off peak.

However the level of almost unfettered criminality that was being reported across the city at the time, led us to adopt @siddo 's approach (post #2), Now it seems a similar situation has been allowed to develop across our own Cities.

Im getting the Corsica ferry from Marseille so planned on night or two in town. Cant stand the opulence of Cannes and Monaco,or the prices. It cant be worse than Liverpool. What I really wanted was real recommendations from real people who have stayed there. Google is great but you cant beat real experiences, eh?

The experiences (real or imagined) in this thread seem to revolve entirely around your motorcycle being nicked, should you stay in the city.

Seriously, have a look at the AI generated suggestions, they can’t all be crap…. And don’t forget the butter!

I’d be more inclined to stay in Cassis, just down the coast, it’s a nice little seaside town, or further up in Aix-en-Provence if you want something bigger, guess it depends on your planned route

It is a dump (mostly) but does have some nicer areas although I suspect the hotels are mostly in the port area. The fact that no one has posted up any tried and tested experiences perhaps tells you everything you need to know. Stay in somewhere like Aix en Provence and work around the inconvenience. Bear in mind that Aix is not quite the lovely place it once was but likely much safer than Marseille.

PS Marseille has just been added to my son’s work area - he lives in Toulon. He reckons that if your bike isn’t a Honda ADV scooter there is a chance you’ll be riding it home!

That not many have stayed in Marseille?

I doubt that many have stayed in Lyon or Paris, when on a motorcycle jaunt either.

Maybe so although, even years ago, I always felt that Marseille was a place to pass through rather than stay and, having been through it quite a bit recently, it seems to have gone further downhill. I have stayed in Paris several times on bike trips, sometimes parking the bikes on the street without issues.

Coincidentally my wife showed me this just yesterday , I think it popped up on LinkedIn as she doesn’t have facebook

Don’t know how accurate it is :nenau

Best not stay in Nice or Lyon then. Milan, Barcelona…. There goes two more….. Dublin….. that’s the rugby done for.

Who dreams up these lists?

In fairness Marseille is genuinely rough, with serious drug/turf wars and no go areas atm. Not that most have reason to be abreast of the news in France..but folks ARE trying to be helpful.

Ive had a look at Cassis and I think Ill stay there, then ride into Marseille with my tin hat and Luger at the ready. Thanks all.
