How can I enrich the air/fuel mixture?

you can do it several ways depending on what area you need richening?.
Main jet for the higher speed range,
pilot jet for the mid speed ,
starter jet (pilot screw) and/or needle position for the tickover and above,,

what do you need it for ?.

The screw that is outside of the carb if only for tickover?

“Main jet for the higher speed range”- is the one that was the needle attached to the diaphragm?

“pilot jet for the mid speed” - witch one is this?

The idle screw is the one at the top and near the cylinder. My research shows stock setting is 1 full turn from closed. "Closed" is when the screw is one paper "feeler gauge" thickness closed.

The jets are below:

3 = idle jet
9 = pilot jet
13 = main jet

The mixture screw is the one that is "upside down" under the carb. Stock for 32mm is 3/4 turn from fully closed.

I think the mixture screws only work on the idle circuit, which is the first 1/3 of throttle opening.

Technically, the only real way is change the needle, to move it up or down relative to the slide - or change the main jet.

You can also fit a stronger spring above the piston which will richen the mixture in transition, where you need it,
Burlen Fuel Systems have a listing of all the SU springs, and they fit Bings.

If you`re seriously needing answers to questions like that,leave your fugging carbs alone.

Yeh but, yeh. With such a simple question and no other clues i wanted to keep the answer just as simple and ambiguous.

Just asking the original poster any questions is going to lead to even more questions and answers and problems when he obviously doesn't know where to start in the first place. :D

You could say " simple, raise the needles one notch, or put in a bigger jet". But he doesn't know what level the needles are or what jet is in place - what if the needle is already fully raised, what if the needle is the largest available.

Circle in a circle, wheel within a wheel.
Ball of Confusion, that's what the world is today : And the band played on. :D

hello

:)

I rebuilt all the bike including the carbs... :)

As I wrote I'm just a bit curious! :rob

(I went for a ride with some friends and I notice too much petrol smell in the exhaust. I'm not thinking in enriching the mixture... eventually the other way around!)

So the question should be "Why is my bike running rich"

You could start by throwing out the cheapo air filter from Motorworks that you were so pleased with :augie
