Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
I've run both 020s and Road Pilots: Surprisingly good grip and great mileage. But, of course, a bit pricey.

So? How do the Road attacks compare? I understand that they sportier tyres, so may not last as long, but are they noticably grippier?
Do they compare to other sports tyres?
They are about as close to a super sport tyre as you can get for the GS, but do the Michelins and Bridgestones fare just as well?

Warthog, Read an article in one of the bike mags recently re tyres for GS. They seemed to think that the Road attacks were the best for spirited riding. The Avon Storms would have won but they seemed to have some sort of problem with a chunk coming out of them. Hope this helps.

Tyre review

The magazine artical that covered the R1200GS tyre review was the June edition of Bike Magazine.

This coincided with me needing to change tyres as a pair.
I took the opportunity to go for the Avon pairing that they would have rated higher if not for a problem with the rear.

The tyre place I went to, FWR tyres in Kennington, rated them highly and said that in normal use they should be fine (not track use as was done in the mag).

Anyway, with a few hundred miles covered I can only say that I am totally delighted with the way they are performing on the bike.

This is especially true with the way they have transformed the front end feel and steering. Totally confidence inspiring.

The tyres in question are the Avon Azaro front with the Avon Storm ST rear. Running on Front 36psi and Rear 42psi pressures.
Hope this assists.

The article was indeed in Bike Magazine and when they recently gave away the tyres which they'd tested, I acquired the very pair of Conti Road Attacks which they used. Grateful as I am for a free pair of tyres, the lack of wear on the tyres, particularly the front one must call into question Bike Magazine's testing procedures.

I'll probably hang onto them until the next time I decide to do a track day on the GS and fit them for that.
