I soooooooooo know I'm gonna regret asking this, especially after my earlier question about oil :blast

But.............how do you gap a plug like this, or don't you? I've never fitted plugs like this before.

When you remove the old ones have a close inspection of the centre electrode and see if it is still round in profile or if it has worn oval at the tip.

I was surprised to find mine very oval through electrode wear and the new plugs made a massive difference to how the engine responds on/off throttle and how much smoother it is.

My plugs weren't actually due for a change for another 4000 miles but I saw the post from NeoViper in the remap topic suggesting new plugs were worth it, so did a mini-service with new plugs.

I got them from an Ebay seller and they were about £2.75 each (when buying 8) as opposed to the extortionate prices some sellers charge.

I similarly found that 4 new plugs made a world of difference after I had been struggling to get my Wunderlich black box settings right. I also foolishly strolled in to my dealer and walked away with 4 very expensive plugs. Will know better next time.

Spark plugs last a lot longer than they used to and unless you drop or bash them unlikely to need the gap adjusting.

You need either a feeler gauge or the lid from 20 B & H, which are a certified 25 thou :D

Aye :thumb2

These new plugs are cast very accurately.....the days of a bent bit of copper inserted down the casing is long gone....the old style plugs you could open up the gap with your thumbnail (almost) but the newer ones are pre-set far more accurately than you could with guages anyway:thumb

If you haven't dropped it on its end, just whack it in and use it :beerjug:

One problem maybe finding someone with 20 B & H

The Denso which are recommended in another thread - I think it is the re-mapping one - are single electrode. Any issues with using those or do they just wear quicker??

i believe the whole point of multi electrode plugs is long life, so single electrode work just as well, but not so long.
