How do you know if a used bike was ex-demo these days?

all the BMW UK ones i've seen (and ive got one) are registered on 'RX' plates - i.e. the first two characters are RX.

I suppose others are too of course, but its a start?

(the cars are usually YH - ive owned a few ex-BMW HQ cars too)

Mine is a RX67, are they head office staff bikes?

The company I worked for at the time did a ripoff fibreglass body kit to convert std 924's to the Carrera GT look - sold a total of 1...

LOL.. think I remember seeing the kits at the time..

It was a cheap car when I bought it. Just after Magi and the 'loads of money' thing. In the crash. People wanting to get rid. Paid about 5k for it and sold it for 10k about 3 years later....

I concur. My RS was an ex-management bike and the reg started with RX18. My car is also ex-management and starts with YH :beerjug: These are completely different to an ex demo as they’re given to staff as perks for 6-12 months before being sold on. Most, unlike my RS, are well looked after by the keeper, not abused from new like demo bikes (and have you seen how corroded some of the demo bikes are after winter?)

The beaver is correct.
It used to be form V888 to find previous keepers but no longer allowed from the DVLA.
The beaver is incorrect.

Telephone DVLA and do a SAR under gdpr, you have no legal requirement to either use their form or submit it in writing. A SAR maybe done orally.

You ask for any and all information held stored or processed in relation to that vehicle.

I picked an old Honda I have and did this at 0835 today, to ensure I was correct.

The cars are "company cars" for employees

the bikes though.... i suspect most of them are press fleet - my GSA went to Monza with Bike Magazine for example!

My reg is YD... so should be private sales as you say

Are you seriously suggesting that the Distribution Center remove all the bikes from their crates, assemble them, do a PDI, then disable them and stick them back in their crates for onward shipment to the selling dealership?

Everything in the showroom is YD... so who knows?

Yes
That is the new way
Supplying dealer just registers it online and bolts a number plate on the bike
All very efficient
Designed by managers & accountants

Quite honestly:

I couldn't give a fiddlers.

Even though, when as a child, my father bought a car which, according to the dealer, had "1 lady owner from new"
It turned out that it also had 6 gentlemen owners.

That doesn't explain why, when I was at NOG a couple of weeks back, they were uncrating new bikes ready to assemble

My bike was PDI’d elsewhere at some super workshop where thats all they do. Cant remember the details but i did get a quick look at the paperwork when i picked bike up. Supposed to be so there is a uniform standard across all the dealers. All my dealer needed to do was fit number plate and add fuel.

My Rallye is RX67, previously registered to BMW UK. PDI by 'BMW Distribution Centre' and run-in service by Park Lane. Ex-management according to the dealer.

Most of the Off Road School bikes seem to have RX plates as well... :rolllaugh

Any demos/loaners I've had seem to have the dealer's local plates on but I wouldn't rule out the odd exception.

I bought a 1200R from NOG with a RX plate.11 months old management bike with less than 500 miles.Massive saving,2 year warranty. Happy days.
