How do you pay your tolls

On eurozone roads? Credit card? Cash? Or advance pass?

How long is a piece of string ?

Depends which country you’re looking at .

You can get a toll tag that charge to your account but many are country specific.

I have an Emovis ( ex Sanef) one for France as that’s where I go most. You can also get one for Spain/ Portugal and I think you can get France/Spain on one tag with a different company.

We’re off to Germany and Austria this summer and if we use any autobahns then I’ll just use my credit card kept in tank bag. Easier than cash

There are umpteen approved bikermate methods. Here is but a sample:

1. Buy a suitable blipper thing but some struggle to get these to link to their bank accounts.

2. Use a credit card, but some find that these don’t work.

3. Use a cash card. See two above.

4. Gather up five bikermates, of which one pays a single charge. The other four, steam through the open barrier , shouting “Fuck you, froggy!”.

5. Don’t use tolled roads, ‘cos they is well shit and like boring mate.

6. Get your pillion to deal with it. But only if it is all too hard or you can’t be arsed.

7. Ride up to the toll, remove your gloves very slowly. Pay the charge, begrudgingly. Fuck around doing stuff. Put your gloves back on really slowly. Ride through the barrier, slowly. This is THE protest method. It really puts one up the man.

Got a Fulli nomad + (ex APRR)

Does France, Italy, Spain and Portugal

I have this, minus Italy.

If you are going to Portugal then there are no toll booths to use a card. They use ANPR like the ULEZ. You either have one of these accounts or you have to faff about with a prepay pass or rock up to a payment terminal or Post Office. Or pay the fine after you get home.

You get a TAG device for France, Italy & Spain and your number plate registered for Portugal. Invoiced once a month. Admin fee only in each month used. Direct debit payment.

It's easy to change vehicle reg. no on the app/website so you can use one device in car & bike.

If you will only do a few miles on a French autoroute e.g. to get around Lyon then just use a credit card.

I can't get a blipper card because I bank with Santander so I use cash.
That said I use cash for food, petrol, supermarket shopping, cakes, tea/coffee - everything except hotels really, unless I can pay on check out in which case that is cash as well.

The janitor says that cash is soon going to be made illegal. You are doomed, comrade.

I also bank with Santander and very rarely use cash I just use my debit card. It has so far been gratefully accepted in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Sardinia, Norway, Switzerland, Monaco, Portugal and surprisingly Scotland and even wales. I’m just glad I didn’t need in the countries you have had to use cash in. Just lucky I guess.

Fulli Tag, left Portugal yesterday morning and used it for short section of peage there....up thru Spain yesterday and today and then France this afternoon....it worked faultlessly...generally without having to physically stop thru the 30kmh lane. Great device.

But if you go through a 30km lane on a bike you’ll be charged as a car . You then have to amend the vehicle on your bill.

I don't have to use cash. I choose to. I would, however, like one of those blipper tags but Santander's IBAN means I've never yet been successful when applying for them.
It's nice that you're lucky though, that's always a good thing.

Only the ones with the “Reservé” panel above them and / or the no motorcycles symbol

The 30 kmh lane on the far left of this picture will correctly charge for a bike, the others will charge for a car as you say

We have a 250 pages thread on the Telepeage blipper and all the tips & tricks. :)

In short: open a Wise account and create an euro balance. Use that to manage the Telepeage invoices. It's free and works like a charm.
Wise referral: click here (you get a free card, I get jack shit because no one is ever gonna spend 100 quid on the card) :D

Also, French Telepeage variations:

Yes, thank you for the link. 👍
I have read it but whilst I'd like a blipper I'm not desperate enough for one to go through all that faff - I'll stick with cash for the time being.
Thank you again though.
