Y-piece n Remus which is sooooo luvvli!

EXCEPT....

I cant even look at it without it backfiring! Daren't blip the throttle on down shifts anymore. Gentle roll off the throttle at speed and it's threeee... tooooo..... wonnnnn... (clench buttocks)... BANG!!

It's funny when you want to do it, but I just know it's gonna go BANG at the Estonian border crossing this June and there'll be guards diving for cover with guns drawn!!
(There's no leaks and Mr BM fitted them for me) - any thoughts??

sounds like an air leak in join of the y-pipe. You may want to look into re-sealing it. Cold air hits hot exhaust gases and KABOOM.

As someone mentioned earlier, the cat/exhaust mod has been covered many times before..

But for the benifit of us noob's, could someone please post a quick 1..2..3.. for the pros and cons of installing the mod?

TIA!

there's no such thing.

has anyone took the inerds out of a cat and then replaced it i know they are very restrictive with all the gubins in um and i know by gutting them there is not as smoother path for the gasses to escape as with a y piece but its got to be better eh eh what do ya recon

fuel economy

Just fitted y piece too twin spark, much better responce, but heres a question for you technical bod's. If the bike was now running lean due to the fitting of the y piece, would it be noticable, in the fuel economy or even the engine temp.
Any answers anybody.

Must say checked plugs and colour in end of exhaust and cannot see any difference from standard.

My bike gave me no discernible negative effects until she started to run on one cyclinder due to a dirty great hole in one of my pistons!

Just go for a dyno test for piece of mind.

Remember reading somewhere a full step by step report on someone doing just that. Not a simple task to say the least, in the end they said it was a lot less hassle to just fit a Y-piece.

Can't find the bleedin link now.

well ive been given a free cat and ive operated on it by opening up the seem around the rear and made a cut about 2/3 towards the rear across the top ive managed with the ade off a gas axe to remove said gubbins so all there is in the collector box is two pipes merging into one from the front like a two into one exhaust which ends about half way back in the collector and the out pipe out so when i get it welded back up i'll let you know the out come ...but it took about 1 hour to get to this stage but far cheeper than a y piece and it will still look like it has a cat...

got the collector box back all welded up and it looks good but when i fitted it it was crap it was surging under acceleration at high revs ......well it was worth a try eh .... :)

I tried to fit the cat back onto mine, but i couldn't get the Remus can to marry up with its arse, and trying to bolt its front paws to the frame proved to be such a bloody awkward job, I gave up. So I put the y piece back on.

the above is a joke for those of a nervous disposition! :D

Is this a record for hits, Paul ?

5001 hits at latest count ! Whew - what is it with GSs and Cats ?

If I'm not very mistaken the process by which a CAT operates means that it contains some of the nastiest compounds known to man. I hope that you know EXACTLY what you are doing and also know where and how to dispose of the contents of your CAT responsibly  :nono
