how many?

Not sure if this is the right place but I want to know how many owners is acceptable. I know there are lots of variables but I thought people bought them to keep them. I had a 2000 1150 with six owners a 1994 1100 with five and all the bikes i'm looking at now are all around four or five. Would this many put you off? What does the collective think?

My opinion is generally to just go with the condition of the bike and not worry too much about the number of owners.
On the other hand and something to think about is, that when you go to sell the bike on, will it hinder your selling the bike if all the people who come to view are put off by it and therfore limiting your market.

Often thought it could be an advantage,as each new owner will often spend a few quid on the bike or put things right that needed doing?

is the average ownership of a bike not usually 2 years? judging by that it seems normal really. Having fewer owners isnt really a bonus, could have had 1 careless owner for 5 years and 2 good owners in 6 months.

Personally i dont care how many owners my bikes/car have had. just judge the condition of the bike on its age and mileage.

Saying that tho, that just my opinion, if it has 15 owners selling may be a problem to others

I agree with that too, so much so that i've just bought a five owner 1150.
The condition and feel are whats really important although too many owners would indicate problems.

I've just picked up a 1150 with 3 owners + me.

One guy had from new. (May 05)
Another from (Oct 07 - Jan 08)
Third from (Jan 08 - Jan 09)
Me (Jan 09 onwards)

Thinking the second guy had a change of circumstances/just didn't get on with the bike. Nothing to worry about if you ask me.

There are many reasons owners don't get on with these bikes... none of which are actual faults.

Just remember CONDITION is KING!

But if you're not sure just walk away the "right bike" is out there somewhere.

I've noticed lots of people go over to a GS after owning sportsbikes and can't/won't make the adjustment. They give up fast and trade in. I saw a 12GS recently where two of the five owners had only put less than 500 miles each on the bike.

Considering most power rangers do about 1.5k per year it's not surprising.
