Everywhere I dont really want to be...
Ok guys..bear with me please. This is my first time with you RT guys (I usually hang around with the 1150 GS groupies!)

I've recently got a hankering for an 11xxRT, but do I need a 4th bike? (GSA, 1200C and 80GSPD as a project). So I don't want to sink a lot of money into it, but an 04 in dark grey would be ideal.

well I've just come across an advert for an 04 RT with 40000km, full BMW service, for 2k euros but apparently the ABS is goosed and BMW want 2200 euros to fix it.

Is it really 2200 euros or would there be a cheaper way of fixing it? I've heard that usually the servos or whatever just need a good clean?

Bike is not far from my sisters place, and for that sort of money (1 euro = 1 Swiss franc) it must be worth a gamble?

What are your thoughts?

Don't bother then, you will be buying something, that you don't know weather it is fixable at a reason price

The issue could be the port filters, or low fluid in the internal pump reservoirs if you are lucky.
Many owners fill the external reservoirs and do not realize these are the control circuits, not actuation.

The other typical cause is failure of a pressure transducer. There are 2 plates, each with 2 transducers - one external and one internal to the pump unit.
These are not currently repairable, although Module Master in the US claim to be close to a solution - they have been saying this for 12 months.

You need to get the ABS error codes, a dealer or independent with a GS911 can do this for you.
