Hi chaps,
I found myself looking at what I believe to be a 1200 sportster,
It’s done 1800 miles and it’s prob 2004/5.
It’s been sat in fairly poor conditions, would require stanchions, tyres, full recommissioning.
What’s it worth as it stands do you think?

A decent one would be circa £5k ish but not much more.

Stanchions are cheap enough - plenty of aftermarket kit out there - what’s the chrome like? Rear mudguards ? They can get rusty ? Exhaust?

Reckon £2.5k max but depends on model as well - chrome donkeys less popular then alloy engine models

No photos I’m afraid,
Owners holding out for £3k which I thought a bit OTT.
I’d have been interested at £2kbut that won’t buy it.
Not much in that then - £1,800 at best by the time you have poured labour (opportunity costs) and parts in you will not see much profit

Also the 2004-2006 models are the crossover point from carb to injection and a bit of a mongrel electric wise, however it's a good cheap way of getting a rubber mount sportster. Earlier ones are best for customisation. Rear master cylinder in a much better place than the hidden underneath on the 04-06 one. The later ones are best for tuning cos they're injection. So make your choice.

Patterns, always go with patterns. (y)
But it is always nice, when you have cut the main vein, to give them another hundred...Everyone is happy then.
