Can anyone answer a quick question mates putting extra lights on his 1150 and and his started to say his battery needs replacing because his optima is showing charged but his bike only just caught the other morning now im pretty shore he might be pushing his limit with the extra lights
his got extra two fogs and 4spots at 55w each not sure what the fogs are but he will be putting a sat nav on soon and aux use for other things im sure .Two of the spots only work with headlights but seems a bit excesive to me but what ever floats your boat but i think advice from someone in the know would be appreciated.:potkettle

Don't know the output of a standard 1150 Alternator, but the 1150Adv has one rated at 700 watts.

I don't think he should have a probelem, unless the battery is on the way out, in which many short journeys with everything going might be too much.
Either way the Sat nav won't make any difference.

IIRC the 1150's alternator output is different for heated grips / non-heated grips. So the 600 is probably non-heated and the 700 is for the warm hands model :nenau

There used to be an uprated alternator supplied with the ABS.

My ADV is non ABS has loads of lights etc and never a problem with the battery. I don't need to use a battery charger on it either.

Probaly best to fit a decent quality battery:thumb

The official workshop manual quotes 560W/14V for the standard alternator with an option of 700/14. Either way you should be fine for everyday use - just add it up and as ong is there is a couple of hundred watts left to drive th ething and charge the battery all is fine. Mine runs dipp with two driving lights plus main and two HID lights. Add in a heated vest and gloves plus heated grips and all that and its quite a demand but never a problem charging or starting.

Probably just the cold. As Timolgra said, best to splash out and fit a good quality battery :)

Cheers lads will pass on the info and tell him to look here ,he has got the heated grips and ABS version but looks as thou his suspicions were right about the battery then :thumb
