Bennetts were charging me for a 64 plate GS TE £629 fully comp last year including cover for leathers, breakdown, motor legal and personal accident. Now that I wanted to insure my brand new GSA, they want £1514.78, how for the love of god is that possible?

Have cancelled my auto renew with them too now as it's gone up by £120

Same here. Just under £1200 for renewal. I reported an incident last year for information only. The treated it as a claim. Told them no claim was made and to remove the auto renewal. Got the renewal papers today for the same money. The insurance industry in this country is fucked up the way an individual is insured for vehicles.

Time for a ukgser insurance company. Methinks
Seriously, how feasable would it be to create an insurance company co-operative with @ 5 thousand paying members each paying @ 100 per annum average.?

When I first arrived here 25 years ago I walked into a tiny dilapidated shop on Lincoln road with buddles insurance in the window and the chap quoted me 80.00 fully Comp (obviously a broker)and I'm sure he didn't have 1000 customers a year.

How hard can it be?

They seem to try it on when ever a new bike is purchased . Shop around !

I was just going to do a post about that myself. I’m getting a new Adventure on Wednesday and rang up Carol Nash to have it added to my policy I already have for a 24 year old Ducati 900SS which has 8 months to run. 57-year-old, 9 year + NCB full licence for 39 years no accidents or convictions, they came back and said £488 but they may be able to do better if I cancelled and started with a new policy. Their first quote was £1200 when I pointed out that I was only paying £347 last year on a Multistrada they dropped it to £650 then £550. Don’t phone me I’ll phone you. Phoned Bennet’s up and they came back with £265 straight away. I think they just use a big bingo machine and see what numbers come out.

Bennetts 171 fully comp. brand new GSA TE.
They wouldnt even give me a quote on line ,30 years riding,no claims or convictions (luck) 10,000 miles a year .They did call me 5 mins ater basically told me i was uninsurable with a new gs

I had the exact same sketch.I ordered my gs and found that quotes over a grand common.I was advised by the good folk from this forum to use mcn insurance comparison or similar and got insured for 190 quid from one of the companies who quoted hundreds more only the previous day. They do take the piss don't they!

Ev, did you tell them your bike is a Triple Black? If so, call back and tell them it's a black GSA TE, which is what it actually is.

There is no mention of Triple Black on the V5, it just says Black. As soon as you mention Triple Black, as this isn't on their systems, most insurance companies will charge an excessive premium to insure it.

On a similar note, my insurance company are still scratching their heads to come up with a figure to insure my new 1290R, so I'm preparing myself for that.

Likewise 10 years NCB 8000 miles per year and they want £1515 for a year. Just now looking as we speak including extras is £732 but by upping volunteer excess drops it down a few quid. I've been insuring with them on and off on 3 maybe 4 occasions, surely they can see that....

Bennetts .. don't have an accident abroad , my mate did and had that much shit it was unreal.
If it wasn't for the local ambulance man ( Spanish ) the bike would still have been in the ditch.
Carol Nash for me .... you get what you pay for .... cheap is cheap for a reason.

Tried to do both, it doesn't seem to make any difference at the moment Rich. RAC is the cheapest at the moment on most comparison sites. That's the problem when bike is not garaged and you live inside the fecking M25, you get raped by insurance companies all the time and every time. Oh well, one has to deal with it and move up north perhaps to J*ck country. :nenau

So basically it is £732. Including all the benefits but excluding breakdown cover (will not need it anyway as get two years BMW recovery with the bike anyway) or just under £100 less if bike is garaged. That will not happen anyway....... so there you have it.

Not meaning to upset anyone, my 2013 triple black adv cost me £97.00 per year, I upgraded to a 66 plate TE adv and it cost an additional £66.00, that included the £25 admin fee I am with Hastings

Smug fecker you must be then?! I bet you some where in the middle of nowhere and keep your bike in the disused mine about a mile below ground?

I'm wondering what mine will be if I stay claim free for the next 4 years... currently £225 1 yrs NCB
Full helmet and leathers cover with legal with Ageas.
Bennetts wanted £456 at renewal as I changed bike mid term.
My 3 bikes now cost a total of £470 all on different policies covering £33k worth, one bike with Hastings too
