I'm off the the US a couple of times this year, and was considering buying CN North America V8 for my 2610, but looking at http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod1722.html we are talking ~£280. Now considering I can get a new 2610 with EU mapping for less than £200, I somehow think doing some research before I go and getting a US 2610 with the US mapping maybe the way to go.

This way I'll probably spend less, have a spare 2610 and have both sets of mapping.

Have I missed something, other than not having a US map loaded 2610 the first time I land? And having to share an EU AC plug when I get home? I'll risk the potential US only warantee issue for now.

Another option is a USA Metroguide and a search for Img2Gps could be an even cheaper option if you get the Metroguide on fleabay.

OK good idea - saw this:

and seems like a good solution (less than a ninety quid after P&P) - anyone see anything wrong with my / half_empty's plan?

Also I think that is a more reasonable amount than the £280 being quoted in the UK, if they can seel a 2610 AND EU mapping for <£200.
