After many many years of GS ownership I have totally gone over to the orange side.

well in fact blue and orange.

i always swore I would never sell the 950 SE and I would keep the 1200 GS as well it was paid for and just there.

Last weekend I sold the SE, and Traded the 2004 1200 GS as the balance for a nearly new KTM 990 Dakar (300 Miles)

Took the GS down to the dealer on the friday, with a wadge of cash in my pocket. did the deal. Sorted me out some panniers.

Picked up the shiney new KTM 990 Adv dakar. Complete with touratech panniers. The shop did a good deal on the panniers. Gave the bike its first service. and even threw in a spare standard adv seat for me.

The first thing I notice was how light and responsive it was.

Just parking it up and manouvering it into the garage it felt so nice compared to the lardy GS

Tuesday morning panniers packed and off to europe. A quick blat down to Luxembough to stretch its legs.

Very comfortable, only stopped a couple of times.

I love my KTM.

Very nice! :D

Those panniers look narrower than the ktm H&B plastic jobs.

Is the fuel injection as smooth as the 950 carbs yet?

Sweeeeet looking bike that Dakar...:thumb2

Would be interested to hear if the FI is sorted on the new 990 Advs now? :nenau

Was talking to a new owner of a 2011 RC8R the other evening and he said the FI was perfect. Wouldn't go back to a 990 Adv until it is.

The panniers dont feel narrow, i have ordered the matching top box, not planning on commuting any more on the bike so it isnt a problem.

Fi is perfect, a bit fluffy when the engine is cold, but warms up in a couple of minutes. It doesnt feel as raw as the 950.

I took the bike for a 'spirited' ride round the back roads this morning, such a nice handling bike, gives plenty of confidence and feed back, the gs felt so lardy compared to it, and very little engine braking compared to the 1200 twin.

My road riding mojo has returned

sweet bike . i now if i have the money i would get a 990adv any day as its lighter and the seat is a tad law than the big 12gs. cant wait to take my dads 06 990adv for a spin.

i have a dakar - 1 drawback is the seat cover absorbs water so you will have a wet ass or you need to carry a small towel to sit on.

to make it easier for slow speed or or offroad change the sprockets for 16/45 - check which sprocket u have on the front as the newer models have a 16t as standard.
