HP2 Adventure

Your right I do but I also like my 1150 and I cant have two bikes :( .

How would an HP2 get on living outdoors, is the build quality any better or worse than an 1150?
Just got in and having called-in briefly to Ocean, I was chatting to the guy who bought my original shocks three years ago for his 1150GS.

He's just taken possession of an HP2 and has worked out how much camping gear he can carry and how.

Ocean have another second-hand HP2 begging for a new owner.

Trouble is Trippy, they have one of those common as muck SE things already on the forecourt so I doubt you'd get much in p-ex!:augie

I'm down there on wednesday so I'll have a peek but if its the one on Autotrader its an 07 and about £2500 to much for me I'm afraid.
Maybe I'll ask if I can take it for a ride rather than the 1200Adv.

Well, I've just traded my 12adv for an HP2! I've no intentions on touring again for the next few years, so have no use for the adv. And if I do tour in the future, I'll buy an RT, because the seat and general riding position on the 12adv is feckin awful, and I mean awful! I'll be glad to see the back of the fecker. No where near as comfy as my previous 1150adv!

Looking forward to the HP sauce experience now...:bounce1

I agree. My wife liked my 1150 adventure but did not like the 1200gs I must say I hated the 1200 gearing after owning the 1150adv, so it had to go. The RT is fine on gravel roads and fantastic for touring. My HP just rocks:beerjug:

Well done on the new ride :thumb2

Don't forget you can claim a free HP2 experience
with Simon Pavey. It's free and an excellent way for discovering just how excellent the HP2 is. Thrashing the nuts out of someone elses HP2 and not having to worry about a thing really does make you aware of how good these bikes are. The harder you push them the better they work - they're a true factory special.

Ah, good point!...:thumb

Watch this space for a cheap day out! Don't really think I would benefit from the 'HP2 experience' but I'm sure someone on here would!

Have you fitted a kickstart kit Snoopy? It was one of the first things I did to my DRZ as you cant bump the buggers in soft sand and the batteries are crap..

Ísland motórhjól ævintýri!

What will the next modifications be you are going to make to your HP2 and when will you be returning again to Iceland?:D

Did you have TT innerbags for the HP2 Zega panniers?(29 and 35litre)

No have't used the TT inner bags. As the panniers arrived on saturday before my holliday, I didn't even have time to put some other liner in them. Working on it now...

Next mod will be a better fitting windscreen, I have to do 500km commuting to work every week, including some highway. For the holliday I just fitted a Puig screen with the original fittings, but the gap between the headlight and the screen is too wide.
Also planning to extend the sidestand, bike is a bit higher now with the technoflex suspension, so the angle when on the side stand looks a bit worrying when all the luggage is on.
And for next year, I have to take a good look at the pillion footrests.

Next Iceland ride? I'm thinking about 2009, as my girlfriend wants to go to Norway/Finland next year.

Looks like a great set up Zwerver :thumb2

Have you done much distance two up on the HP2? Just wondering how comfortable it is for the pillion...

Thanks!

No distance at all with pillion so far, but I can imagine it's not very comfy ...

I was thinking the same thing - I think an passenger airhawk might be the best way to address that.

I want one, I really want one, but for now the 1150 adv has to stay with maybe a ttr 600 or an airhead as a companion

what to do

having ridden the hp off road only I loved it, some say it's not a good road bike though

Rob

it's plenty of both you do need to re-learn some riding skills which you may have forgotten as the 1150 is so forgiving.

the welsh guy who's on here he's must absolultley snot his about if he had to fix bigger brakes to it.

it's like an old airhead with all the cool new stuff on it.

Try the mega moto if you don't go offroad it's even better cos they got the shocks and rear end much more sorted.... It's a monster....!

I just keep getting drawn back to this thread :blast
No matter how much I tell myself I should stick with my lovely SE I keep finding myself looking at all things HP2.
Apart from the thing being way too fast for me and me never being able to do it justice I still can't help thinking it maybe an ok bike for me.
I don't do high mileage, most of the GS events I go too are in the south, I always travel light so the smaller zegas would be ok with some soft luggage, I want to do Northern Spain and the Pyranees next year and theres no real road miles there for me.
During the week I commute to work if its dry on 12 miles of B rd and when I go out for a ride on rest days it always ends up off road and the 1150 is so f*cking heavy to try and pick up when its on its side up a tight Exmoor RUPP.
I also want to try and get over to the plain more often and have a bash at a rally one day.
