Anyone had an EWS "immobiliser ring" failure on an HP2?
Its not that I have, its just that my old `57 1200GS suffered from one and loads more have as far as I have read.
Does this common EWS failurs that affects the R1200GS affect the HP2 also?

I see from the wiring diagram, that they are almost, if not identically wired.
(Give or take a few extra bits on the GS)

I asked the dealer this question several years ago and sofar EWS failures are not as common on the HP2 as on the regular 1200. He offered this as his opinion...

"Less HP's about which on the whole do less miles hence the chance of failure less common", his words not mine I still bought a spare aerial and had a good look at how you get at it. Just in case...:D

so far so good with my one, but i guess the chance is there after all it's a BM...

I had one on my Megamoto.

I stopped for gas and couldn't get the bike restarted. I tried about 30 times and then it kicked over. I quickly put on my gear and headed home.

Once home I could never get it started again. Had to have it towed to the dealer. Got the upgrade and everything is fine.

I have one persistent ESW error on the bikes display for more than 2 months.

Tried all the keys that came with the bike and always get the error on startup. Other than the error message on the display I notice no malfunction at all :confused

No failure, but had mine changed at the first service, as the recall was announced the week I bought the bike. Wasn't going to wait for it to fail.

Hi Joe, so what your saying is that when they did my last service 2 months ago, the should have replaced the aerial under warranty/recall?

I dont fancy it breaking down in the alps next month :(

I may be wrong, but as I understood it, the dealer would do it if you asked, but they wouldn't necessarily offer as it isn't a DVLA type compulsory recall.

Like I said, I could be wrong, but I just told them I was going to Italy and wasn't going with a part that was prone to failure, there was no argument or quibble on their part, they just did it at the same time as the 600 service, so no inconvenience to me.
