I have noticed over the last few days that I can hear my fuel pump humming it's load enough to hear over the engine, If I put my ear against the tank it can be felt & heard, it does not sound terminal or rough just louder than usual, what do you guys think ? do I need to dig deep & get a new pump ? or will it keep going ???

I'm not familiar with how they are mounted, but if its got louder than before, then something has changed. Has it come loose and is vibrating??

I've had the bike 5 years & covered 50k on it so I'm used to all the strange little noises it makes this is different, the noise is the same with a full or empty tank

The pump needs a new filter - exactly the same happened to me.
Pump does hum and is louder the more empty the tank is but when it starts to WHINE change filter before you poke the pump!

The filter was changed on the 48k service ??????

Are you sure!! I got told that and when the tank had to come off later, it had not been done:(

Had the pump checked last night & I was told it was not that uncommon for them to get noisey but not to worry it will still go on for ever !!!! "Watch this space"

Geezer - just had exactly the same thing on mine - noisy pump that could be heard over the engine. I changed the fuel filter yesterday and problem solved.

I also did the external fuel filter mod at the same time, as it really is a right pain in the arse having to take the tank apart just to change the filter.

Did you get the pipe done, by the way?
