Went on a trip to Holland Sunday to go to Hot Rod welding to pick up and fit my X-tank. While there I ended up with a bigger X-tank so needed my side racks altered to accommodate it.

Then started fitting the front twin headlamp assembly which was worth the effort in my opinion. Thanks Erik for all your help.

Anyway I digress, we agreed ( friend who came along for the ride) that we would go to Hyperpro to have a nose around. All I can say is that Baz and his team are very helpful and set about setting up my mates Ohlins rear shock for him. It was none of Baz's doing but Michael ( my mate) decides that he needs not wants but needs the top Hyperpro rear shock with adjuster pre-load knob and high and low speed adjustment. As I said Baz tried in vain to tell him that there was nothing wrong with his ohlins that a different spring and some adjustment wouldn't sort out. But his mind was made. Baz even said that he can be called if there are any problems regarding adjusting the shock.

Also thanks to Mikecbrx from here for meeting up and showing us around. Erik at Hot Rod welding for all the extra work he did on my Xchallenge and Baz for fitting in the work he did to Michaels bike at short notice. All of them great guys and made us feel very welcome.

I think we might have to make another trip to Holland next year to get my shock serviced!

On the down side I lost the glass out of one of my projectors on the way home :(
On the upside the replacement is in the post today. (only got home last night!)

(An Ohlins rear shock will be coming up for sale soon to fit the Xchallenge)

Hi mhsnowy,

Been some time since I visited this forum, so had to re-register first
It was our pleasure to put you guys up and nice fiddling with the bikes. Hope you will have lots of fun with it.
Bas called me yesterday about some forgotten pants (something to do with "balls and a bag"? :augie). We will guard them for Michael and if I think of it will send them them over with the next parcel going out your way
Dianne sends her regards also :thumb

Just out of interest does anyone know how much a fully adjustable shock is from HYPERPRO need to change the air shock on my xc for next years TAT trip with Bilco.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers Nathan:thumb, and only just up the road from me, seems a good price! a lot cheaper than OHLINS , are they as good?, any known issues with the Hyperpro?

That isn't the top model. The top model has a knob for adjusting the preload as well as the high and low speed damping.

You do get a very personal service with the hyperpro if you speak to them but calsport are obviously the agent for them.

Give him a call and take a ride out to his shop and get the personal service by having it built and fitted in the same day to your exact specs. (4 hrs from Calais).

I think my mate is going to want about £350 posted for his ohlins rear shock. Ill get him to take some pictures for those that are interested.

If everybody is so interested in rear shocks:
There is an as good as new Hyperpro shock (fully adjustable, high/low speed, but no remote preload adjuster) for sale here of a client of ours.
It's been on an XCountry only for a few 100 kms. Only thing is that it is 15 mm shorter than the usual build length (45 mm lower ride height, short guy)
Guy wants € 500 for it (abt.750 new).
At want it can be rebuild to rider's specs for an extra € 100 and would be new then.

Xtank

A couple of pictures of my new xtank from Erik at Hot Rod welding.
I decided to not go for the usual black or white and went for the 'natural' look. It's still powder coated and IMO looks great.

I'll put up some more when I've fitted it back up.

Cheers Erik, great job mate!

the extra £200 is for the hydraulic pre-load adjuster, if you dont need to make frequent adjustments for carrying luggage etc you can probably do without or add it at a later date. if you buy from who ever in the uk be aware that they order from performance parts and the order only goes out to hyperpro when they get enough to put in a minimum order so it can take 4+ weeks to get one that way. they'll also try to charge for "optional" extras .... speak to baz about that ;)

There are several optional extra's whilst building a shock absorber:

Black Spring - No Extra Charge
Linear Spring - No Extra Charge
Length Adjustment - £70.00
Hydraulic Preload Adjuster (HPA) - £200.00
Race Setting (including rider weight) - £80.00
Weight Change outside 60-95 kgs (rider including passenger/luggage) - £80.00
Height Change - £80.00

In relation to the last 2 options (weight change and height change), there is a maximum charge per shock of £80 for these options. If the customer orders just a weight change, then the charge is £80. If the customer orders just a height change, the charge is £80. However, if the customer orders both weight and height change, then the charge is just £80 (not £160). This applies only to these 2 options.

When u thinking of going Johnny, might be up for a visit as well:thumb
