They haven't fixed it in the last 6 months, so I doubt there's any hurry.

Still can't get my head round the fact that they're willing to hack into ones PC

If you know enough to be able to say that someone's tried to hack into your PC (you must have a traceroute set up with a firewall....and have used dome pretty dodgy means to establish that any so called 'hacking attempts' came from anyone remotely associated with this place) then you'll be able to prove it won't you???

Go on, show us the log file........

I call bullshit...you're full of crap OGSer. :tosser :tosser

aye, what he said

I agree 100% with Fanum. Time to put up or shut up OriginalGSer.

This started as a whine against the 'fashionable' GSer's and instead has turned into a general whine because you seem unable to grasp the concept. Why do you need a bike to join a bike forum? I don't ride a MotoGP bike, but I still read about them and watch the programs. Live and let live man, just chill, grab a beer (if you're old enough) and enjoy the banter.

If you're really so bothered about people stealing your fashion statement then I think you need to get a different life, buy a KTM or a Laverda and leave the rest of us fashion victims alone. OR, embrace the biking brotherhood, revel in riding ANY bike and stop trying to make a minority out of a slightly bigger minority.

Hmmmm, let me see, where was that 'Identify IP by user name' button???

Ahh yes...there it is.......

Ooooer!!!!

It's all starting to make sense now........

Original GSer, I'm pretty sure that your 'security threat' thread was based on the above post by me here in this thread.......

You said;

it would appear that if your views differ from certain other on this forum, they will arrange to hack into your P.C. for malicious reasons.

Let me set you straight on this,'cos funny though your rantings have been, you have it wrong.....very wrong.

This site, in common with every Forum that I know of, logs IP addresses...this is so that we can deal with those who post illegal stuff, break the rules of the forum to the point that they need dealing with and to make sure the place is secure (ie someone can't impersonate someone else and rip them off or do other naughty things)

In fact, this is clearly stated in the FAQ section about security and there's a line on the bottom of every page that says
Your use of this website constitutes acceptance of the UKGSER network privacy policy
which links to it.

Now, here's the important bit.....

Yes we know your IP address, and I did refer to that in the post I quoted above- but (prepare for a new concept here OG ;) ) it was a joke, ok?

In the context of many previous posts in the thread, I was wondering who you were- if you were someone like JS, or more likely, one of the more intelligent wind up merchants here.

Registering or looking up your IP address is by no means 'hacking into your P.C. for malicious reasons'...and that's it.

There are very very few people (two in fact) who could look up your IP address through the site.....it's totally secure and it has never been and never will be abused, so stop stressing FFS!!!

FWIW, your particular broadband service uses a dynamic adressing system so it's actually of little use to a hacker anyway ;)

Now do calm down and get realistic won't you?

You obviously have some interesting viewpoints and you managed to hit the 'hot buttons' of quite a few people here (as the replies to your threads have indicated) but there's no way one of the mods would ever censor, hack or otherwise mess around with you just because
your views differ from certain other on this forum

OK??

Muppet

PS my phone number appears on every single one of my posts...it's there because I do take this place very seriously and if there's a problem, I want to hear about it first hand......so grow some balls and call me if you like- I can assure you that far from what you appear to believe, I (like the other mods) am actually here to help and even protect people who inhabit this place rather than 'hack' them ;)

Sorry but he does have a point......

Had my GS and loved it, got divorced and had to sell it 4 years ago and get a 650GS, Ewan comes along and now everyone wants one as a fashion accessory and second hand prices have gone up accordingly, no complaints on the stronger residuals but it does make me a bit more upset that I had to sell mine in the first place and the price I had to sell it for. About January 06 I should be able to afford another one, expect me to start grinning again then.

KTM must be kicking themselves if that's the case, dumbasses.

Still it has nothing to do with why I just bought one, I wanted one 3 years ago, but bought an Africa Twin instead, because it was what I could afford.

OGSer's call on stereo typing GS owner's could apply to any group of bikers,
Hell's Angels to R1 or FireBlade owners, some people in those group's like to wear similar gear & some don't, I wear what I feel does the job and/or feels/looks good.

:)

Another Google gooddy: select preferences on the right, then for "interface language" choose Elmer Fudd :thumb it's a cwassic !

Ohhh bollocks I got bored after reading post #1 from original tosser. Just want to say to Snodog fanks for the Africa Twin mate, 31000 miles and going strong :D

You my bestest hero for selling me that bike :thumb

Oh well

I read page 1 and then jumped to the last page, don't think I missed much.

Hey Maverick, Is the AT better than the GS? :D

i have watched with interest this posting expand and expand some very valid points have been raised and my personal thoughts are that it reminded me of when i was a member of the triumph owners club.
during that time i ran a 65 bonnie with various non standard parts on it what i would call improvements, however it got to the point that to stop being bothered by the anally retentive members i had some small stickers made and placed strategically that said 'i know its not original so :censor::censor::censor::censor: off'.
And the same unsubtle comment could be levelled at OG, expanding to include i may not be original so etc etc.
just because you had the good fortune to be introduced to the delights of the Gs before lots of us doesnt detract from the enjoyment we feel when we ride our bikes nor does it make you more important, apart from in your own silly little mind.
I wear a HG Tuareg suit, tour X, alpine stars mx boots so what, when i ran my bonnie i had a piss pot bronx jkt etc so what!
I have been riding since i was a nipper and grew up with bikes I annually do 10k on bikes but i welcome with open arms every one who rides irrespective of bike or gear it just reinforces what great taste i must have to own such a popular bike.
So may i suggest you crawl back under the little stone you came from take you prejudices with you and get used to being a small fish in a big pond of Gsing.
Or fxxk off and buy a KTM
TTFN  :bounce1

What a stupid comment... OGS's comments stack up well. Basically all you're saying is that you like to dress up and don't give a fsck what anyone else says - well done!
