Picked up a mint 07 K1200GT from Davel last Thursday morning (top bloke held the bike a week for me) and what a long week. and thanks to italian trev for giving me a heads up on it.
Went form Widnes to Milton Keynes than up to leeds, and on Sunday morning Leeds to Galway.
Got some high winds in Yorkshire on the A1 on Friday nearly got blown off the road a one point.
8am on the M62 Sunday and it's 10 degrees. Wat's going on ? it's January.
Great trip 1200kl not a drop of rain, arrived in Galway warm and comfortable thanks to a great bike and heated seats / grips. These should be on every bike, why does it have to be an extra ? Makes riding a lot safer if you are not frozen up. I bet the new £1000 car from Tata has a heater as standard.
(rant over).
Popped into BMW Clarks and Rainbow, also Jeffries but was a bit late and they were closing.
All in a great weekends riding and in January.

Great choice of bike. I bought mine in April 07 and have done 25,000 miles on it since then, every mile has been a pleasure:thumb

The service I've received from CW's has been superb and the bike hasn't missed a beat.

Make sure yours has had the new air box mod' and the software update as it transforms the bike into a rocket that's smoother than a baby silkworm's bottom.:clap

Yes, I had the fast idle gremlin on Friday morning, cleared after I restarted it later on.
Still getting used to it, it's a big bu**er.
Feels very heavy on the steering.
I am gradually getting used to it, I am going to do a lot of miles on this one.

Get your bike to the dealer's and have them do the air box mod. This cures the fast idle and makes the bike very smooth.:thumb It's all done under warranty.:clap

I should have taken the tax disc off it! :blast

:D

Glad you and Mary enjoyed the trip.

Sorry about the squeeze in the car from the airport.

Enjoy the bike!

What a fantastic picture, says everthing about biking.

Do you know how to use the dip stick, mine is a spring loaded jobbie, a bit different than the manual. What is the correct way to check the oil ?
The bike is on Castrol GPS

There are three ways to check the oil on my bike.

1) unscrew the dip stick and with the engine off check the level on the dip stick as you normally would, level ground, between the two marks etc etc.

2) There is also a clear plastic tube coming from the oil container and the level should be visable on the tube.

3) With the engine running, the bike stationary and the engine warm you can check with the oil sensor on the bike's computer. Just scroll through until it says "Oil" if all is ok you will see a "√".

I have to admit I haven't seen what you are describing.

Hope this helps

After not being quick enough to snap up Davel GT, I'm picking up a copy cat one from Bahnstormer on Thursday. It's already had the updated air box and re-map fitted so it should be like the '08 which was taken on a test spin.

Looking forward to those heated seats and an extra 50bhp over the GS!

It's good to know there a few others on here with the same bike.

Cheers

Stuart

Good luck with it.
I have a 05 R1200Gs I mostly use for trackdays and knocking about, also a 06 Adventure which is my everyday bike.
As of now I do not think the K1200GT can replace my Adventure. I guss it's the usability of the GSA and the nimble handling.
I don't think I will fully bond with the K until I have done a European blast.
Good luck with your new bike and post a picture.

I couldn't get a GSA and a GT, but I missed the power of a sports bike and fancied a change. The GT seem a good split between comfort and speed, I know I've got a better chance of using the GT to its design idea than a GSA. The new 08 GSA was alot of fun but if you use your bike every day it's nice to try something different.
