I don't have a GS

ha, not slaggin 12 at all, they just have a few known faults that people seem to forget, if you read what i said

they have a few known nasty faults, but usually they are done under warranty, or have been done!!!

if yours is fine, then all good, i just find that some folk (who never owned a beemer) who buy a gs only ever see the 12, and cant see the benefit of the others.

makes no difference to me, i have all the bikes i want.

happy riding

11sies

I've had my 05 GS from new. It does all you are setting as your criteria.

I can keep up (occasionally when I can still be ar5ed) with jap sports bikes on the road generally when they are being ridden by folks that think they are quick.... "Use the torque Luke" :rob

There are better R series bikes for track days, but then thats not in your criteria.

I have had far too many bikes in my riding career and I can honestly tell you that this is by far the best 'all rounder' there is.

There were some teething probs with some earlier 12GSs but they are well known now and pretty easy to work 'round. Yes Rs occasionally go wrong, but then Jap bikes are about as innovative as McDonalds so they are bound to have all thier relaiabilty issues sorted.

IMO the 12 pips the 1150 just because the 1150 is bulky, but it is no lesser bike.

BMs are second only to Harley for being able to get aftermarket bits that individualise your bike..... Although as stated above, trying to make more power is probably not goong to do anygood fro your reliabilty.

It will tour without being a tourer.

It will go quick without being a sports bike.

If you have the ability of Mick Extance, or very deep wallets (actaully just get an HP2) to replace bent bits you could take it off- road.

It will always be different from the 'herd'.

Once you get used to it, it looks great too..!

Different from the herd :D

every time I go out I see more 1200gs than any other bike :nenau

I think I've found one. Good bike, good price but 250 miles away which is a minor pain in the arse. It's an 04 with relatively high milage at 55000 but that's only what my old Fireblade had and that ran like a new bike. I assume this will be better???

where is it located?

About 250 miles away from London. Upwards, i assume or I will get wet feet. See why I need sat nav?

ok, the negotiated completed with a mutually acceptable compromise. Now all i have to do is arrange how i'm going to collect the thing. i own a gs! I don't like the colours though. Has anyone ratted a GS before? My Matt black rattle can is on standby.
