I have an 1150GS 2001 model with the earlier Brembo-badged calipers.

I was changing the rear pads and a spring clip thingy came out as I took the old pads out. The clip was between the pistons and the back of one of the pads, which doesn't seem right. I had a look at the parts diagram on RealOEM, but it didn't seem clear exactly where it goes.

Here's the clip and the inside of the caliper...

I think it goes above the two pads :nenau , but any (sensible) advice appreciated!

Had that problem, I dont think either you show is right, I think its at the front where they clip in, but not sure... alchohol induced short term memory loss...

Where you think it was is right. It pushes down on the pads. Make sure that little arrow is pointing forwards - i.e. with rotation

Yes but the arrow in the photo will be against the centre of the caliper so the tangs hold it in place:beerjug:

Thanks for all the replies. :thumb2

OK, I checked the old pads for marks (2/10!) and the piston ring marks were clear and complete, so the spring clip couldn't have been where I thought it was (between pistons and pad).

I've put it above the pads, just rearward of where I initially thought it would go (nearer the pin end), as the little ears/tangs seem to sit snugly in the recesses fore/aft of centre - with the little arrow pointing forward when caliper fitted.

Personally I think your original green position was right. The tangs kind of clip it onto the cast web in the middle.
Once the pads are located in the right hand end, as in the pic, there should be spring resistance when pulling the pad down enough to slide the pin back through.
