I like the look of this tyre change method

Me too. Could be useful if you don't have a compressor to seal the bead at home.

I'll stick to taking it to the dealer/ professional tyre fitter.:D

I like the look of that!! I saw the "Bead Breaker" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0nrZadIQxA and fitted my rear tyre a few weeks ago, but i had an issue getting the beads to re-set, we don't have a local bike tyre fitter but the car tyre fitter inflated it for me, i'll definatly give this a whirl when i put my TKC70's on in a month or so.... should i video the setting fire to it part ;)

I never had a problem getting beads to seat. Love the care taken to move the aerosol can away and the accuracy of the tyre gauge. I think most aerosol products would produce the same effect. Hair spray damp start lighter fuel ect ect. Nice video. JJH

My local tyre guy (in Oldmeldrum....first class service) has a thing like a one inch thick rubber band he put between the tyre and the rim and then as he inflates the tyre the rubber thing pops out.
The video is the same technique that they showed on Top Gear years ago when they were messing about on glaciers in Iceland.

In an emergency yes but I wouldn't use that method on a regular basis .... have you seen what it's done to that blokes face?

Talking of changing ones own tyres, I need a new rear tyre sort of now, and the tyre I need ( Pilot Road 4 Trail) is soon to be in stock, I hope, but cost £132 from the dealer I normally use.

Just ordered one from Oponeo for £98 delivered. Now I am very experienced in lots of things mechanical but never changed tyres before. If I can save this sort of money then I think it is well worth it. Any tips or pitfalls to avoid ?

I have of course watched various videos on the tube but have any of you lot done it yourself ?

I'm sure an expert with orange tinted spectacles will be along to advise you shortly.
