Well I have just got home (could have rode round the island a few times when I got off the ferry).
Coming from sports bikes I wish I had done this a few years ago.
Test rode the bike on saturday ( big thanks to steve for showing me the way around) with the mrs on the back, the roads where wet and mucky but took it easy and we survived, we loved it, it does everything we want it too so she is happy.
Went back to the shop and paid for it then had to drop the mes off at the airport so she could come home, woohoo first time on an adventure on my own, found it a little different as the bike stood alot taller now but soon got used to that. Roads where still wet and mucky but confidence was coming to me a little more now.
Took the long way back to the hotel as I still had loads of light left, ok it was mostly motorway and the A3 but I enjoyed it, seeing what it was like to ride at normal speeds as opposed to the bike wanting to take off at every oppertunity like my sports bikes used to.
Got back to portsmouth and had a long hot shower to warm up, then food a couple of beers and bed early for an early start on sunday.
Got up early weather was good so got ready and away I went, had no idea where to go so just pointed in a line and went, ended up at brighton, stopped for ten mins just to text the mrs then off again, headed up to london (bare with me as I have no idea what roads I was on) the turned off onto some smaller roads to get the bike into some twisties and I eneded up after a couple of hours at the same hill top cafe ssteve took us too, still cannot remember the name but I thought to my self with a silly laugh, "how the hell did i get here" the guy next to me on a new 800gs thought it was funny too when I told him my story ha ha..
Well quick pee stop and away again, this gets infectous, long way back to my hotel, I know I passed through aldershot, then onto the M3 and stopped at the fleet services for a KFC, mmm food, forgot I needed to eat, then back on the bike again and down to southampton, got there then along the M27 to portsmouth, thought to myself still not time to go home, lol so off to southsea then through portsmouth and then up to Havant where my hotel was.
Total of just over 400 miles in the two days and I am still smiling.
Going to plan our first trip, a nice long weekend in april, mrs idea not mine, so that says something
woohoo just love it
