Hi All,
Long tail short, I'm putting all my CD collection back in to itunes because it refuses to recognize some albums in media player.
I have the latest version down loaded, but when i load certain albums (Brian ferry the ultimate collection) :augie:augie . I tunes makes one "folder" with just two songs in it then makes another "folder" with another two songs in that :( on and on :eek
The only difference that i can see is that the first "folder" is by Roxy music, the second "folder" is by Bryan ferry.
Ive tried to drag and drop all the tracks in to one "album folder" but it wont let me :blast

WTF am i doing wrong ?

Any advice from itune gurus out there would be appriciated :o

Thanks in advance

P.S. Yes the album is a genuine purchase, not a copy.

By folder i mean an album in itunes

I think that's the answer. I've noticed that iTunes not only groups by album, but also by "album artist". Just edit them to make them all by the same artist (either "Bryan Ferry" or "Roxy Music") and the same album name, and i think that will sort it.

steve's right.

why not just adjust your head to accept bryan ferry and roxy music as two seperate artists? it would make life a lot simpler.

I think maybe.................................Try altering how you are searching/listing your albums!
i.e.on the top menu where it says Artist,Album,Title etc try highlighting Album and i think you will find that the album is all together again.

iTunes can only recognise the information that it is given on the CD. In this case it sounds like the CD is telling iTunes that your CD has 2 artists on it, BF and RM. Think yourself lucky that you are an old f4rt;) (assuming your taste in music demotes your age) so do not have albums from the likes of Outkast or Missy Elliot as nearly every track would appear as a different artist as they are always "featuring xyz"!:P

As has been said do your search via album title to see them grouped.

I agree with Steve, change the artist to either Bryan ferry or Roxy Music or if you want to cover all odds then Bryan Ferry aka Roxy Music and you'll be OK.

What Steve said, to sort out your issue for now.

the tagging database used by Itunes (gracenote) isnt always completely accurate.

had good results with http://musicbrainz.org/ especially when tagging more obscure titles, but not sure it will tag .aac format files, but mp3s you'll be fine.

i think i have the answer now i understand the question.

highlight all the tracks on the album, right click, choose Get Info, on the Info tab put either "Bryan Ferry" OR "Roxy Music" in the Album Artist box, click OK.

this will tell itunes it is all one album. sometimes needs to be done on compilation albums, just enter "Various".

this is the answer to 90% of multiple entries in iTunes. particularly irritating in Cover View when 1 album has 16 covers :)

Hi All,
Sorry for not replying sooner,
Did as you all sugested highlighted the tracks, get info and changed them all to roxy music :beerjug: sorted :)
All in to one album

Thanks guys:bow

This is what the compilation flag is for. Select all the tracks, Get Info and set Compilation to Yes. iTunes displays a single album with songs by different artists.
