Im pretty much embarrassed to use the feeble excuse of a horn on my bike it really is pathetic.
Anyone fitted an aftermarket one without any difficulty and can you recommend any in particular :D

Does a single Magnum horn need a relay or is it a direct plug in replacement as it won't trip the circuit breaker?

I fitted a Nautilus, which *does* need a relay.

Dunno :nenau
I was hoping it would be just a matter of taking the old one off and replacing with the new. Dont want to be arsed with changing wiring etc

BTW Thanks to Bryn and Slowdown :)

Then its a magnum you need- just replace the oe horn ... no relay required :thumb

But unless you want to cut the BMW connector off, you need Nippy's connector (Or buy it cheaper from your dealer, like I did). Sorry to be pedantic, but I think Glyno needs all the info he can get *before* he starts work :thumb

Yep, I want to be able to have all the bits ready to go on in one op, nowt worse than getting halfway through to find out you need a thingy to complete the job and its Sat afternoon and the shops are shut till Monday.
Thanks all

Ah! You've seen me at work then? ;)

Oh - don't forget two female 6.3mm spade connectors and a way to crimp them -

I just cut off the BMW connector and crimped on a spade connector:thumb

Slowdown,

what was the part number (or description) for the BMW plug. I choked on paying NN £16 for a bit of plastic and two wires as well but hadn't got around to looking for an alternative.

Cheers

Dave

I had a Magnum on my '06 GSA and it needed a relay. It would trip out the CANBUS and only work again once the ignition was cycled off then on. Dunno if its still an issue on the later bikes.

I have the Magnum on a 07 GSA, easy exchange, no relay, just a five minute job and no probs with it, nothing is tripping.

As others have said, one magnum will go on just fine. On the other hand, I was not hugely impressed with the difference with just one, whereas the twin-tone pair gives a very different blare that stops people dead as they are about to walk in front of me.

You can add the second later, of course.

Also, be careful where you fit it. You might not be able to easily get it whee the old one was, so don't forget that many of the apparently empty voids in the front of the bike will be occupied by the forks or the suspension once you are moving.
