Hi,
I will be riding in Iceland for 10 days arriving the 29th of June and leaving the 9th of July. We are a group of 6 riders, 5 on KTM (990S, 690x2 and 640ADV x 2) and 1 GS800. We are a mixed group of 2 Italians, 2 Dutch and 2 English.
We are all quite expert riders and motorbike travellers having travelled independently for many years and covered several times Africa and others remote areas of Europe. However this is our first experience in Iceland.
We are shipping our bikes in a container from Immingham (UK) to Reykjavik . We will bring our tents with the idea of doing half camping half sheltered accommodations (B&B/Hostel/Hotels) according to what we find on a daily basis. We would like to cover as much as we can and avoid tarmac. We are very keen in reaching remote areas whenever there is something to see or even just for a pleasure of a nice ride.
As I said I would appreciate any tip, advice, suggestion, route tracks and whatever else you can/want to help with.
Many people suggested to cross the island in the centre as there we will find some of the most amazing landscapes and some of the most enjoyable tracks to ride.
I would be also grateful if there is anything in particular we need to know regarding river crossing (is there a specific time of the day? Morning?).
Also, how difficult will it be for you to ship spares across Iceland if we need them?
Thanks
Nic
