Hi Guys ,

I have a R1150 GS 2003 , just done a service this weekend adjusted throttle bodies and had a lovely idle speed 1100 rpm , over the last two days the idle has gone up to 1500 .

I have removed and cleaned the air bleed screws , they were crudded up , tried to adjust the idle speed , and if i have them wound right in the bike will idle at 1100/1200 rpm , if i wind them out to the default setting 1-1.5 turns the idle rises . Sometimes the bike just stops at idle as if the fuel has been cut off . Other than this the bike runs ok . Any Ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Check for inlet air leaks. Check the rubber plugs that seal the vacuum gauge balance stub outlets. Listen around with a hose or squirt carb cleaner into suspect areas. If there is a leak the revs will go up.

hi guys,

Thanks for the replies , i have adjusted all the cables as suggested , they were to tight but still i cannot get the idle down to the recommended speed.

But whilst i was adjusting the right hand throttle cable ,i noticed there was a smear of fuel on the fuel pipe joins the quick connectors on the fuel line , could this b the cause as it is sucking in air.

Any thoughts would be welcome , i will of course keep checking the leak and will be contacting the local dealer for replacement.

Thanks Steve

Remove the Big brass screws and check the o rings, replace if necessary, clean them, fire some carb cleaner down the holes where they were, smear a little red n tacky or similar rubber friendly grease on the o rings and replace the BBS. Re balance and see if that helps. Air passing the BBS can cause the high tickover. The other thing to try is setting the TPS voltage.
