Yes the zip in the BMW 'roll bag' (It's shaped like a roll) failed

The zips on my Streetguard failed

The zips on my Atlantis pants (two pairs) failed

The zips on the Atlantis pants even tearing holes in the seat of my XCountry

The zips on Sue's Atlantis pants tearing holes in her XCountry seat

"If BMW kit is that bad I wonder why you stick with them"

I haven't ... I've moved across to Rukka :P

The Wunderlich/Ortleib roll bag behaves impeccably cos it has no zips ;)

As for BMW's two year warranty on clothing ... down to discretion I'm afraid. Sue's gloves would not be replaced because they were too tatty to do so.
OK she had done a six month trip across Asia in them, but they were only just over 12 months old. No limitations at to mileage or countries of use in the BMW 2 year warranty :augie

:beerjug:

That is some catalogue of catastrophe there Micky ! No wonder you changed brand.

I have to say that i bought the following second hand and none of it has let me down...... well not yet anyways :augie
Atlantis trousers
SG 2 jacket & trousers
I had a Rallye suit too - again no problems (sold it so as not to look too stereotypically Ewan .... )

Glad you're sorted now :beerjug:

I'm on my second Rukka outfit now, it's great gear with Laminated gore-tex, hard wearing materials and good armour.

It's well made out of excellent materials but I find it very cold gear to wear in the winter. I had intended to buy a Klim Badlands jacket but, after trying one on at the NEC, I changed my mind. The L was a little snug, the XL was too long in the sleeves and the kidney belt kept trailing loose behind my back every time I put the jacket back on.

If I were to start again, I think I'd try the Touratech Companero suit, now available in black.

Feckin expensive though, so I'd have to wear it a lot even if I didn't like it !

RUKKA

I must say of all the suggestions I like this stuff best however the ARMAS is just a piss take of a price , ive seen a cheaper model being touted about its an ALEX Jacket and Rukka Unit Trousers , any knowledge ???
The Armas is out there is the following which are possibly in my budget
ALEX
ARMADILLO
ATHOS
ARGONAUGHT (maybe)

cant find a stockist in Scotland to try the gear on so any advice on fit would be good.

Cheers and thanks for all suggestions:beerjug:

Council workers donkey jacket (tie it round with some string for extra warmth in the winter) Readers top tip...... If it gets realy cold spread out a newspaper and stuff it down the front.

In my opinion, anything with a gore-tex laminated outer shell has the advantage.
The laminated shell keeps the outer layer of the jacket waterproof whilst being breathable. However, a gore-tex inner jacket or liner may keep you dry while the outer jacket still gets soaking wet.
If there's a big price step between jackets by Rukka it's often because of the difference in where the gore-tex is.
