I am fitting a relay but it requires an ignition controlled feed, where is the best place on a 2005 R1200GS to pick this up from:? I will be mounting the relay where the tool roll was located

Thx

Pick it up from the back of the accessory socket. I made my existing socket permanently live from the battery (via a fuse!) and then used the existing socket feed to energize a relay between a secondary socket behind the screen and the battery.
That way i have a switched feed and I can use the existing socket to connect a battery charger.

Mine used to pick up from the accessory socket, but this stays live for 30 secs or so after turn off. Not a big problem, but I finally got fed up with people telling me I'd left the (aux) lights on when I walked away (grateful to them for trying to help nonetheless). I just changed to pick up from rear light instead. Can be done without any wire cutting using one of those double / piggy-back spade connectors at the bulb. Both ways work fine.

Meant to be a blue and green wire from diagnostic socket which is exactly where you need to pickup a wire with ignition only power for the relay. I am going to use it for my aux lights relay. I got that knowhow off this site somewhere...
