Ignition switched itself off!

Barreling along the M20 this morning, about a ton in the fast lane, suddenly no power, blank dash etc. Cruised to the hard shoulder expecting main fuse blown when I noticed the ignition key in the OFF position. Swithed on started and was off again before the wheels had even stopped rolling (all with clutch in of course as I couldn't tell what gear I was or wasn't in). Only one small top box key attached to bike key. 'Spose it must have been vibration. Anyone else had this happen?

I have had this bike for three years and a previous GS12 for over year and never had it happen before.

most embarrassing it is too. It seems tha tit is possible to turn the ignition on with the key, before the cylinder/barrel reaches a "detente" position.

Last time it happened to me I was on my 1200GS playing with an 1150GS/A , and an 1100GS at each set of lights coming out of London; then al lights went off no=-one at home. Initially I thought it was some dread 1200GS weakness, but then I noticed my keys in the off position.

Since then I try to remembr to check each time I turn it on...
