Anyone here using the Ilium bar risers on their 2014 model ?

any good ?

easy to fit?

any problems ?

I am considering getting a pair from Sportouring but have a plan that only buy one thing when the last one has been fitted, and have a horn that needs wiring up.

I fitted a set a few months ago, ordered them direct from the US, fitted them myself, without any special tools (though i did used the wife's Hair Drier)

Really impressed with them. great build quality and adjustability.

An RT which has been used rather than sat in the dealership and a rather large puddle as a back shot?

Here's a better pic to save you all squinting...

Hiya, did you have to loosen or change any cable to accommodate the altered position of the the bars?
Thanks

there are bar riser threads on 3 forums I visit now :D So same question I asked on one of the others, with the bars higher and your hands on the grips, do your hands block the view to the mirrors? Any real difference between these and Helibars or is it just personal choice

Hi, There are no problems with any of the cables, as there is plenty of slack in them, in all positions.

I'm 5ft 8", with the seat on the lowest position, and I can see out of the mirrors perfectly, but i assume it depends on your individual height/riding position.
Helibars weren't available when i bought the Iliums.

I'm 5ft 8 as well - perfect. Did you get your bars from the States? I see Helibars are available in the UK

Don't bother getting them from the States, you save very little. Get then from Sportouring.co.uk, the nice man there will lend you a tool which will make the job VERY easy.
I did it first time without the tool. DON'T.
Very straight fwd. instal. Much more comfortable. Try using the cruise control, then sit back and rest the tips of your fingers on the grips to give you an idea of what it will feel like.
Then get the footrest lowering kit..

Thanks for the reply about the cables. :clap Regards your last, are you saying you would have bought the Helibars if they had been available? Just interested in your opinion.

No I would still buy the iliums, as I think they're a superior product and much cheaper. I think the Helibars for LC look naff and are overpriced.

The helibars come with the tool, which you are paying for. Do the Il bars lock in position, or is it by eye. Helipads say the lock at the same angle

The tool only costs a Tenner to rent it. The iliums don't lock in place, but I had no problems aligning them and they look like they have a greater range of adjustment. But that's just my opinion.
