I think you missed HG out of there somewhere, my Rally suite has simply been fantastic, especially for the money. Certainly ahead of Dainese IMO... :thumb

Sorry, very remiss of me - my Tuareg jacket is now 3 years and 40,000 miles old and pockets are falling off and it looks like poo but, it's still waterproof :thumb

The reason I rate Dainese gear so highly is that for two years I commuted between Notts and London every day in one of their Gortex jackets and it was brilliant, finally finished it off in a 80 mph get off with no damage to me

I am, however, in the process of replacing it (Tuareg) with a MBW Ralye Jacket

Busters were selling some Belstaff stuff off cheap recently and the Cordura stuff is absolutely superb. I have had a belstaff Explorer for about 6 years now and it has never ever let a drop of rain in and I have ridden in monsoon like weather here in scotland and the Alps... top stuff vastly underated. :thumb

Fair enough, can't argue with that really. I've only really seen their leathers in action, which ain't to impressive, especially for the money... :thumb

Belstaff is good gear, been around a long time, shame some of their stuff don't look that good. I guess it's function over looks!

Rain proof

I use the Fieldsheer Highlander .

Top piece of kit , had it three years , it's never leaked [ not even in a torrential downpour on the M6 at Shap on the way back from Scotland a couple of years ago ] - armour all over the place .
It weighs a bit , but once you get it on you don't notice .
Mine was less than £200.00 - excellent VFM and I'd buy another without hesitation .

Steve

I use one of these and find them petty effective :D

I used to wear a variety of HG gear and no matter how much I re-proofed jackets and trousers would last me two winters before needing replacing.

When it came to replacing it all I looked at Rukka & BMW as on a trip to Garmisch last year they seemed to be the brands which kept people dry.

I ended up going for Rukka because of the 5 year guarantee over BMW's 2 year. I've been wearing it for about a year now and the trousers have been back when the lining ripped, but I had a 'loan' pair whilst mine were being repaired.

I've also got a pair of Daytona Roadstar GTX boots and mine leaked in the left toe. Got those repaired too.

So far so good really.

When it comes to looking for kit again I hope the exchange rate is good as I think I'll be giving Aerostitch a very close look.

this years winter kit is a 300 quid ford fiesta. :ymca

i did not, contuary to popular, smash my bike up just in time for winter.....

as soon as ebike pay up, ill be out getting wet and cold with the rest of you knumb nutts.

just looked at the rukka website and their gear looks top quality! But then I checked a dealers website and saw the prices, £700+ for a jacket! But then again I suppose you pay for the quality.....

i've just looked at that, if you take the darian jacket and trousers at about $750, according the net it works out at about £390, which I don't think is bad. Suppose then you have to add on the delivery and the taxs etc when its imported but even so i'm seriously tempted

Another vote for the Aerostitch kit. Worn mine virtualy everyday for a year now (I commute by bike) and now I won't wear anything else, despite a cupboard full of kit. Comfy, fits perfectly, doesn't leak, on and off in a jiffy. Exchange rate means the prices are very good at the moment, but you'll need around £100 to cover tax, etc.

which aerostitch kit have you got out of interest?

I've got the same experience as David's.

It's the suit pictured on my first post. Fortunate find from ebay in my exact size :thumb

I bought mine from Infinity and have a Steel jacket, £380, and Protech trousers, £360. I also bought Daytona boots so negotiated a decent discount :thumb

Faaaack!
High Viz overs will keep a crowd control water canon out and are cheap cheap. You can wear whatever you want underneath :thumb
FWIW, I have gone this route after years of trying to find good textile kit that remains water proof throughout daily winter riding. Even the top notch kit I bought (Dianese loadsamoney) leaked after a couple of years. I now wear leathers with proofs over when required. :)

i did think about that, but it means quite a bit more changing and more layers, plus my leathers are the perforated type so would be a bit cold!

Same here, summer race leathers. The proofs do such a good job of keeping the wind out (ie, completely!) that I don't get cold unless it's really bad and then I put on a thin fleece jumper under the leathers. Legs never get cold. In the winter I pretty much have the dayglo on permanently so it's not like it's EXTRA kit as they stay on over the jacket and trousers when I take them on and off. When the weather is good I fold them up shove into a suitable bag and put in the topbox.
You should see the cars scatter when they see what they think is a "Traffic Copper" coming up behind in their mirrors ;) Double bonus :D
Cheap, practical. Why spend a pile of cash when hiviz does the trick? Spend it on goodies instead :thumb

High Viz overs QUOTE]

Are they having a laugh? A high-viz long sleve over jacket is a just under a tenner.

By the time they have packed and posted it, it's price has more than doubled!!
They are having a larf yes, sorry that was just a first hit google. Mine usually cost around £10 for a jacket (no lining) and £8 for trews :)
