So you sorted the Pedantic Sod, at the DVLA then?
They are wrong you know!
HOW MANY MEMBERS HAVE REGISTERED IMPORTS, AND BEEN ASKED TO CHANGE THE SPEEDO TO A MPH BEFORE THEY WILL DO IT?After its passed the MOT? Id love to know, Has something changed? Or did Steve come across a "jobsworth"? Anybody got a copy of their rule book. Maybe this should be a new thread~?
I am aware of what the Con and Use Regs say.

Hi Gary

My DVLA office was very helpful in registering the 1997 R80 GS Basic you sold me (originally from Germany).
The DVLA told me that regardless of being over 10 years old and being exempt from "European Type Approval" the vehicle must show MPH on the speedo. The MOT you supplied clearly shows the distance covered is in Kilometres, because of this they asked the question "is speedo MPH".
They required receipt for the new MPH speedo & an invoice from a dealer showing it had been fitted or I could do it myself and they inspect it by appointment.
Do you know a website that shown definite list of requirements for import registrations?
best Stephen

Main requirement...import it yourself and save a fortune :aidan

The last 3 i have done have had the kilometer speedo on when i registered them no problem at all

i have an import PD. the only reason it has a mph clock is 'cos i wanted one, long after it was registered.
