Ahh. Interesting and thanks for looking into it.
When I was in my way back lately through France and looking at the route I saw exactly the same thing. At first I thought, is Google adding weather info and it's showing it specifically to my route. But looking at the forecast, it didn't match! So I started wondering what those zones were!
