I have a 2000 1150GS, non-ABS with Brembo calipers. I know its a heavy bike and the rider is slightly larger than average size, plus I carry a passenger a lot- I find the brakes very good for feel, but need a bit more stopping power and get caught out on occasion. I still have the rubber hoses and will probably change these, but not sure they will have that great an effect.

The calipers are spotless, the pads I think are original BMW and the disks are in as new condition and the fluid is changed regularly- are there any ways I can improve things further? Do different calipers fit or are there any makes of brakepads that may improve things further?

Just had fitted the Ferrodo Platinum pads (from Steptoe) and new fluid (dot 7) and the front brakes are spot on, better feel and stopping power :thumb

I use Carbone Lorraine front pads in one of my 1100`s and they`re awesome.

The only trouble is they`re a bit pricey and they produce a lot of brake dust.

The other 1100 is running EBC HH pads and they`re almost as good as the Carbone Lorraine`s,but cheaper.....and better than the stock BMW pads.

With these pads above, do you notice increased disc wear?

Fitted Hel's SS hoses to my old 1100 goldwing a few years ago made all the difference in the world.

Ferodo platinum brake pads - awesome stopping, without the disc wear. And for the earlier bikes they come with anti-rattle pins attached, unlike EBC.

Yup - what the Steptoe bloke says :thumb and despite the fact he sells them I have to agree. I can lock up the front wheel with these pads - not that I enjoy that, but it stops the bike better than the OEM overpriced stuff.

Ferodo Platinum pads and change your hoses to Stainless steel braided [Nippy Norman does kits] ;)

Yep - steel hoses really help
