Hi Guys. Im off to France for the first time on the bike at there end of this month. I use my Garmin with a a pair of in-ear monitors. I have read that this is against the law in France, do they enforce this over there or is this one of those obscure laws that they ignore. Any advice would be helpful.

I've never been stopped and perhaps I'm a bit to relaxed to worry when I should??

That's what I do, I was pulled in Brittany a few weeks ago for speeding and Le Gendarme didn't even mention it. Like most of his colleagues he can't be arsed with enforcing all these piddling laws like carrying a hi-viz vest, breathalyzers etc.

Does this law in France apply only to actual in-ear monitors or earphones, but not to speakers mounted in the helmet's ear pockets (a la typical bluetooth comms)?
