Indian motorcycles

Hmmmmmm.…. Think “stunning“ is a bit OTT. But I’m sure it’s Mother or the beholder would like it. It’s not blessed. But neither are the Harley Road and Street glides.

Doc, do you ever get over to Squires? there’s a guy that hangs about there that has a Chieftain (I think), he’s got aftermarket exhausts on it, you can just about hear them over ’born to be wild’ playing on his stereo system. I’m sure he’d be happy to discuss the options, and where he got his from.

Chieftain is a totally different platform to a Challenger, it has the air cooled Thunderstroke engine, the Challenger has a water cooled Powerplus motor.

I own a Chief and previously had a Roadmaster. My chief has an Indian stage one kit, which includes pipes and intake plus Indian specific tune. I believe they are no longer allowed to supply these as it bypasses emission regs, i.e no cat and it’s louder. However there are a lot of systems available from aftermarket suppliers. To be honest you really don’t need to do anything to it, they make way more power than an HD straight out of the box. Or you could simply punch the plugs out from the standard exhaust for more noise if you really wanted to.

Not very often

I know i can get the after market exhausts but a bit of info from someone who has done it would be good. Or could i just fit tail pipes without a re tune.

The Chieftain is gutless and handles like a barge compared to a Challenger . Chalk and cheese .

I confess to knowing very little about any of these. All a know about is the wife’s Victory Kingpin. That’s as close as it gets.

Only OTT if you’ve never actually ridden one; Arsey and I have and have also owned and ridden HDs by way of comparison. It’s in a different league, but point taken if referring to the looks as opposed to performance and handling, it’s certainly not for everyone.

Also no Indian section which is putting me off.

It is its looks I was referring to. I’ve no doubt it rides well for what it is.

Harleys aren‘t much to compare against, all the ones I’ve ridden are shit to ride.

I’ve got a 2018 breakout. That’s the worst of the lot. Can’t bring myself to get rid.

Well, you managed to pick the worst handling Harley available…and that’s a pretty low bar
True, I look at it as a positive, if it wasn’t for that I’d never have got the GS.

Well I’m sorely tempted to buy an Indian Scout Bobber 20, so maybe we are getting closer to an Indian sub section.
