Indicator switch turns on 4 flashers

Hiya...

I have a 2002 1150GS.

When I press either of the indicator switches, both left and right indicaters light up and flash altogether.
The cancel button works as normal.
The hazard switch works as normal.

Is there a common earth that might be the problem??

admittedly, I changed the rear indicators over to new ones (non led), but the indicators worked as normal after that....

Any pointers, gratefully accepted!

have you checked the flasher relay the big one next to the fuse removal tool area ( if you can borrow a known good one swap it over and see if it cures it)

if not at fault then you will need to look for chaffin of the left and right power cables for a possible short or short at the conector plugs
open the conectors and spray in some contact cleaner also check for any signs of corrosion between the pins
