hello , sorry if this has been asked before , im currently on the look out for a 1200gs and have never owed one before , i have been motorcycling for 20 years and im moving out to the sticks and need a mile muncher for commuting to work , is there a gs not to buy and what is there to look for when buying one , i really appreciate your input as its alot of money bout 7-8k and dont want to get the wrong one or the "bad " year

08 onwards should see you right most probs sorted and slight increase in power over the earlier ones.

thanks autogs , anything to look out for like rust areas or dont touch with a bargepole add-ons ,upgrades or engine noise ?

center stand will prob have no paint on they all do that,front engine cover can corrode and look nasty but can be re painted or replaced,engine should be fairly quiet,maybe slight rattle on start up which is no prob really.grab hold of thr rear wheel with bike on center stand,rock up and down and left to right there should be no real play maybe just slight play at worst,rotate wheel with engine off sould be smooth.there is tons of info on here,i think there has been a recent thread about must have bling etc.
